EB/GS B2G1 Used Sale -> Huge fuckin sham (LiveJournal)

EB and GS are having a B2G1 on used titles and accessories. Cool.

I figured I'd pick up 3 DS games, or a DS game + Oblivion + Freebie, since I need to get it again for Shivering Isles.

I enter the first store, and discover they don't have Oblivion. But, they have Lunar Knights for the DS at $25. $25? I browsed the PS2 section for maybe some RPG that I missed, I didn't see crap except Tales of the Abyss at a whopping $35. $35? Fuckin a, I thought these were supposed to be used. I browse more, nothing interests me. So this was a dud. While browsing, the fat ginger clerk (think wobe) was playing and talking about Pokemon with some other guy. Woah. Suddenly, my wearing of a Krome Studios shirt didn't make me feel that bad (I really like my Krome Studios shirt). So I quickly bailed, and headed like to the other side of town to the GameStop.

Here, I waltz in to find the - surprise - fat clerk chowing down on some chicken wings or something. He is startled, and quickly wipes his face with a napkin. Don't mind me, fat man, I'm just here for Oblivion. I tell him this, and discover a used copy at $55. Is there something wrong with that picture? $5 less for what I could get for a new copy? Thinking nothing of it, I grab it and check out their DS games. No Lunar Knights this time, but they did have Contact for $25. Did I really want to spend upwards of $80 just for these two games? I look at their cart-only DS games and go wide-eyed at the fact that they want $25 for a cartridge of Children of Mana. Wow. I decide to bail this store and put the games back, telling the sexy clerk to "enjoy his lunch."

Just down the street of this place was another EB. Here, I found the clerks gathered around Guitar Hero 2. I waved my finger in a circle, and said I was just looking around. Luckily the X360 games were wayyyy in the back, while the clerks were waayyyy in the front, so I was guaranteed not to be bothered. Once again, I was the only window shopper in the store. Here, I found yet again there was no used Oblivion, but a ton of copies of Crackdown and Gears of War. How peculiar. Checked out the DS games, saw pretty much nothing but turds, then scanned the rest. I considered picking up Zelda for the Gamecube here just so I didnt make this whole trip a bust, but I decided to wait until my eventual purchase of a Wii, because I might like the Wii controls. There really wasn't much exciting nerd clerk talk, just some guy gloaing on how he was good at Guitar Hero, yet all I heard were the "clunk" sounds of a bad note being hit. Maybe it was his off day.

So, that's my story and how I reaffirmed my stance that buying used games at these stores are a fucking rip off and how I can get games mad cheap on CAG's trading area alone.

EB/GS has complete shit for selection and pricing. Every time I go in there it blows my mind that ppl will pay the prices they do for used games. It's like a land before internet buying or something.
