Gas prices hit 3.50 cents near where live today and traffic just seems to be getting worse in the greater seattle area. Everyones swerving around to get places faster and cutting each other off. Oh and remember those metered ramps that are supposed to control traffic output to major higways? Useless now since the Carpool lane has so many cars in it I feel like as a non-carpool driver I have merge twice, once with the carpool lane, and once with the actual highway.

God damn commute.

Himuro it just keeps climbing. I normall carpool but this week is an exception. The carpool lanes in WA are pretty jammed these days too. Gas prices go up but what can ya do? You have to get to work and not everyone lives right next to their job.

I gotta run the high octane stuff in my car. $3.69/gal last time I filled up. :'( I find that I get a little better mileage using the shell v-power gas than I was getting with others though so I don't know how much difference it makes to try different brands.

Not if your car doesn't need it. It'll say what octane is ideal for your vehicle on the filler cap or in the owners manual. 87 is regular, 89 is midgrade and 91+ is premium/supremem/v-power/etc. I have to use it because my cars are turbos or have high compression pistons and you'll get pre-ignition and knocking if you run too low an octane in them.

I use public transportation or walk as much as possible. We all need the exercise anyway. The commute may be long but you just find things to fill the time - I do homework, sketch, crochet, or just look around and enjoy the scenery.

Greater seattle area has poo public transit. The main issue being no number of fancy high tech wireless capable buses can avoid the crush of traffic on Western Wa's narrow road system.

The commute is nothing about doing homework or sketching, because if you do any of that you will probably die. The commute is SURVIVAL my friend. SURVIVAL!!!!!!!!!
