that's just one game, and maybe even a little too complicated for children at that

Xbox Live Arcade, what're you on?

people pay a lot of money to play the best-looking games on hard copies in 99% of the cases, and the pc sharewares that comprises the vast majority of its content aren't going to appeal to anyone, not to mention that most people will never accept to do any microtransaction or online credit card payments

to me, they look to be of a technical grade higher than anything on the 360.
why are we doing this?
it's a boring, cyclical exercise in futility.
while you're impressed with it, i'm not.
this is why i call you -- and the other taco xbots -- psychotic.
i respect that you're enthralled with the 360.
i don't care.
you can't seem to respect that i am not.
which is why you are constantly touting it's hardware EVEN though it doesn't make them any money?  all sony is showing any long-term interest in is HD video which you can not justify when you consider it means sacrificing their main source of revenue.  you think people will still like sony even though they screwed the consumer in every way possible? the fact that sony is failing this badly is a SHOCK.  now if you want to trust sony's forecasts before they manufacture PS3 even though they knew it would be hard to manufacture Bluray drives go right ahead.

these do not count, that's what my previous post meant

and damn, you could possibly count Kameo, and the upcoming "Viva Pinata" as kids games... two games by Rare, so basically two games done by Microsoft itself to ensure that there's at the very least a little bit of everything on its system

if this is all they have to offer to the 13 and less crowd, that's telling on how all editors view the platform as... this is a niche in great needs to be covered if they want to compete with the PS3

why do you care about marketing games to 13 year olds and younger??? im sure it wont be long for bgrade publishers to start putting shitty movie licensed games on the 360

im sure tony hawk, king kong, all the racing as well as sports games could have been played by younger gamers as well. are you pretty much saying there has to be a game like ratchet, sly, or spyro on it

especially when you have your credit card number checked from the same place every time unlike sony's online plan.

Diablos: So I won't have to buy games for my PS3 to enjoy it? Come the fuck on.

600 isnt acceptable because I KNOW ill have to send 800. Read my fucking post.

Argh, MAF. You misunderstood me. Calm down.

WHAT I'M SAYING is that PS3 is $600, yes. Plus some games, and you'll be spending probably close to another $200 or so.
But with 360, you're going to do the same with games, making you have to pay $600 too, the BASE price for PS3. But when you reach $600, another $100-200 is really not that much. That's why I compared it to building a new comp for $600 and then adding on more stuff for another $200, because at that point, you're already spending $600 to begin with.

Do you have a 360? I don't. I was unimpressed with Xbox and currently not too thrilled with what I've seen out of the 360, and after some waiting and paying attention to what both consoles have to offer, I'm making my decision. But I'm about 90% sure that I'm buying a PS3. And that will be my only console this time around. Last gen I bought a PS2 and then an XBox when it was like $200 or whatever, so that's $500 for two consoles right there, plus games for both... lots of money!

Next-gen will be expensive for both 360 and PS3. $400 to $600, $60 games. 360 looks appealing at $400 (unlike PS3 @ $600) but once you buy a couple games you're already in PS3 price territory. So the gap between the two in price is not so big when you really think about it.

I think next-gen sucks altogether. I'm not a big Nintendo fan so I wouldn't care if Wii was even $50, and I don't think any console should be over $300, but here we are. Sony and MS's best offers are too expensive. And games are too expensive. It's just crazy.

And if I'm like Jotaro, why would I make a thread pointing out a serious flaw in Sony's launch plan, laughing at a photoshop of their distinguished mentally-challenged PR? You and I share the same disgust for next-gen but you're not getting it; for MS and Sony, next-gen is expensive to BEGIN WITH. Over time, after buying many games, gamers will have about the same size holes burned in their wallets. In fact almost right away. Like I said... $400 360 + 4 games @ $60 ($240) = PS3 price land. Surely you plan on buying more than four games for your 360, Coot.

Why would I make a thread title "PS3 DELAYED IN EUROPE" taking an obvious jab at Sony?

Jesus.

which is why it's insignificant to pay for an online service.

With a 360 or PS3, I would not pay for the online service, not right away at least.

Isn't Sony's answer to Xbox Live free, or is it just for useless shit (probably) or some rumor?

they don't have an answer.  it's probably going to be PS2 caliber where the company's make their own servers.  there's no way they could make a network as big as xbox LIVE without having to charge the consumer.  that's actually what I think was most of MS's losses on xbox last gen.

I thought it was called "Sony World" or something. They should charge the customers (that want it) with whatever MS makes their consumers pay. PS3 is more than capabile of that, with built in ethernet and wifi, I think it's quite obvious they are going to take the console online.

they still have to make the servers and the organization and everything...isn't that huge?

Well yeah but I'm sure they are already taking a loss. And provided they charge people $20/mo or whatever, they will be able to make it happen regardless.

You don't put built in ethernet and wifi on a console and not have an online service either instantly available or in the works.

it'll go online, who you pay is the question.  and that's what people care about mostly.  it took microsoft years to put all the little touches on xbox LIVE so it's pretty much not a possibility for sony next gen.

you know what?

if you're not inclined to spend $800, don't spend it.

no one is forcing you to spend that much.

many -- millions, i suspect -- think the system IS worth that much, and the demand will unquestionably be reflected in what i predict to be an unabated sales rate of record proportions well into 2008.

so, yeah, sit on your fat ass and enjoy the ripoff that is the 360, the game that can't muster up a title that looks as good as resistance without seeing its framerate plummet into the single digits.

that's the 360 for you.

btw, drinky cow, seen the new resistance shots?

sub-360 my ass.

wake me when doug actually returns to his account.

the castellan i'm familiar with would never be the xbox-advocating tool this account has become.

Oh please. It's not that hard to set up a network if they charge people. It's all about money, not infrastructure.

I'm pretty sure it'll take a while.  that's a lot to tack on.  microsoft expects to make money from having this specific type of approach to games and that's why they spent so much money on it.  maybe gamertags?
