Anyway I would like to kinda share something with you.
I bought and posess the following:
1)Season one and two box set from Funi
2)The first five Region 2 import DVDs from Japan
3)A box set of Honk Konk Bootleg DVDs containing all 285 epidoes of the entire DBZ series.
I have just compared the Funimation season 2 set with the first few of the Hong Kong bootleg DVDs, as well as a the first few Official Region 2 Japanese Toei DVDs.
Here is review and results:
Video and PQ:
Image quality wise, I can tell you right off the bat, that the official R2 import DVDs, which of course are the same exact masters from the original Dragonbox sets, and the Honk Kong bootleg DVDs are
IDENTICAL!!!!! Yes, I said
IDENTICAL!!! There is absolutely NO difference between the two....at ALL. The funimation dvds however, look AWFUL in comparison! The colors are wrong and the image, as you already know, is cropped on the top and the bottom.
The Honk Kong boots are in full screen and suffers from NO cropping whatsoever, since they are DIRECT rips from the R2 Dragonbox/Singles dvds from japan.
Sound:
Again the official R2 import jap dvds shine here, with crystal clear mono sound. But whats even MORE impressive is the Hong Kong boots....they are in full 5.1 SURROUND just like the DVDs from Funimation! Overall I'd give the audio to the HK boots.
Subs:
Guess what? The English subs on the HK boots are JUST AS GOOD AS THE FUNI DVDs!!!! I'm serious. Looks like Manga (the HK Boot distributors) ripped the subs right out of the Funi DVDs. They are fantastic!
So what does this all mean? Basically it means that all you idiots who bought the Funimation boxsets have been
OWNED TO THE MAX!!!!!!!!You've supported this shitty company who fucked up the DBZ series by cropping the shit out of it and fucking with the colors. Meanwhile I'm sitting here enjoying my lovely HK bootlegs with NO cropping, lovely subs and great 5.1 audio.
And best of all....I was able to pick up this bootleg set for only $175!!!!!!!!! It includes
ALL 285(or whatver the official count is) EPISODES!!!!!!!! That means I can sit back on my fat, black ass and watch the ENTIRE series right now in one sitting, while you bozos are forced to wait another 3 years before Funkymation is done releasing all of their shitty boxsets!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Everyone who wants to watch DBZ the way it was REALLY meant to be seen, I encourage you to scout around ebay and look for the HK DBZ bootleg sets from "Manga". They simply RAWK!!!
