You don't want to watch women reading the news?
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:55:56 PM »
CBS thinks you don't.

Quote
Linda Mason: I'm just surprised at how, almost 30 years after I worked on the "Evening News" as the first woman producer, that Katie is having such a tough time being accepted by the public, which seems to prefer the news from white guys, and now that Charlie's doing so well, from older white guys. I guess they want the reassurance of a Walter Cronkite.

I had no idea that a woman delivering the news would be a handicap. And I'm afraid that Katie's paying a price for being the first woman. But I think it's a great trail that she's blazing, and I think if the broadcast continues to be as good as it has been, if we continue to break news, if we continue to tell interesting stories, people will start to watch. It takes time, I think. But I was surprised that there was an obvious connection between a woman giving the news, and the audience wanting to watch it.

I don't watch the news, but I love me some Kate Wheeler or

Those are not newscasters. Hell, I'm not even sure if they're women.

It has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with her sucking ass at her job

Hasn't cable news and the internet pretty much made Celebrity Network News Anchor obsolete?  Not that it was ever particularly useful.  Ryan Seacrest could do the job and not really do any damage to the final product.

Whenever minorities face rejection they automatically resort to "IS IT BECAUSE I'M ______?" Face reality Katie, most men think you're good for little outside of early morning laughs, sensationalist stories, and political blowjobs.

I don't like watching the news on tv. I like getting my news over the internet. Newspapers are all right too.

I once heard that a transcript of a newscast could not even fill the front page of the New York Times. During a newscast you are not getting a lot of information.

Katie isn't THAT bad. But I have no patience for network news anymore. If I watch tv for news, its cable.

I just don't have time to sit through all the fluff pieces and other stuff I don't give a crap about. I want to skip right to what I am interested in.
