Joan Crawford's daughter wrote the book the movie was based on. Crawford's other children say the book is pretty much a total fabrication.

The daughter was pissed 'cuz Joan Crawford cut her out of the will.

BTW, did anyone else ever hear the rumor that Crawford used to be in porn and prostitution before she became famous?  Apparently the movie company she was under contract with bought all the prints of her porns and burned them. :(

I always get this movie and "Flowers in the Attic" confused. Although, I remember liking 'Flowers' a lot more.

Oddly enough, so do I.

I doubt the porn story is true (nor had I ever heard it).  Joan Crawford started in movies in the 20s, which I'm sure predates any porn that we would consider porn today.

My mom was pretty strict about what I could watch when I was a kid, but she liked this movie - so I got to watch it.  Before this movie my idea of a female villain was Cruella De Ville.  Joan Crawford :heart

Mom wouldn't let me watch Flowers in the Attic.  I had to get the book and read it all in secret.  Talk about disappointing.
