It already has issues sustaining a signal to my ps3. I'll be playing .hack and the controller will either get stuck on a command or not send any at all.

Lame. Is that common with those? I've got a logitech wireless for my ps2 and a wavebird and those have always worked awesome but those are the only wireless ones I've used for any prolonged length of time.

I dunno, im gonna look around but the control issue has only been with .hack so far. It might have something to do with PS2 emulation, I dunno..

I guess I'm lucky. I have two sixaxis controllers, and neither have had battery or connection issues.

I've also never had a single problem with any console I've ever owned, either.

it's a bluetooth stack implementation issue in the ps3 firmware. you will get it eventually.

Huh. I've been using it almost daily since the end of February, you'd think I'd run into by now.

There's nothing worse than watching kite run off while the two others get their asses beat cause the controller decided to stop working correctly

it's totally random, but seems to happen when folks have a lot of devices broadcasting on the same (2.4 GHz in this case) band. it happens with the wii, too. basically, the bluetooth stack loses context and your controls will flip out until it resets. it's common in almost all bluetooth < 2.0 implementations.

Is this something that can be fixed via firmware updates?

ichirou, nope, unless they start selling Bluetooth 2.0+ enabled sixaxis controllers, too.

This sounds like a pretty big flaw.  Why isn't this more of an issue? :/

it only seems to crop up when there's certain types of channel activity in the band used by the bluetooth stack. 2.0 fixed it with some new error correction, but both sony and nintendo decided to stick with 1.x implementations -- dunno why, might be because 1.x chipset implementations are cheap as hell. ya got me!

edit: try disabling various 2.4 Ghz devices if it's happening really frequently.

My wireless always seems to go out whenever I use the microwave (which is about four or five feet away from the laptop. Could that be connected? ???
