Initial impression after about 15-20 minutes of play (made it to first town in demo):

Graphics look great (on SD... anyway), voice acting is blah.

GAMEPLAY is nice. Uses light/dark for enemies and attacks. Enemy or you run under some shade, you can trigger different special attacks. I don't see any form of MP, I think its infinite?

When its your turn you have so much time before your turn is over. So it's like, turn-based... but it's active. When it's enemy's turn, you can press block at the right time and lower the attack, like Super Mario RPG. It tells you when you can hit it, so you don't have to guess... like Super Mario RPG.

I like it. I will play more thoroughly later today. PM me if you want my Japan account to get it. The demo is entirely in english -- voices, text, even has a ESRB rating of Teen! Apparently this is coming out in September. I'd imagine an American demo is on the horizon.

Mana? It always reminded me of the newer Tales games.

* Notice each person gets their own turn, as shown by the timer on the left. This is what I mean by "turn-based, but still active"

* The stars on the right are Echoes, this powers up your special move (Y). Notice how it's 32 at the start, then goes away when she uses Shade Comet and takes off 800HP. Later, she uses it and it only takes off ~122 HP. You build Echoes by doing regular attacks. Y attacks are unlimited, but damage is dictated by your Echoes.

* Notice how she runs to the left into the shade (even though it's Dark?) to activate this spell -- the text for Y changes when she runs under the shade. In the light, it would be a healing spell instead.

* Chance! is the part where you hit B to guard it. You can also counterattack, but maybe at different opportunities than Guarding.

* X is your items, you equip certain items to people for use in battle, you don't flip to an item screen. Think Kingdom Hearts. You use RB to cycle through your items for use.

I played the demo and it was pretty cool... even though the "dungeon" was rather linear and the camera in battles wasn't that great.

it was pretty good in terms of gameplay but I don't play many of these games so I wouldn't know how to compare it.  I honestly think  it has the best graphics I've ever seen, no other game has this much attention to detail.  I really want a zelda in this style.
