Regarding the whole "addiction" issue: I have a very, very addictive personality. If I find something I enjoy, I do it... for years and years and years, and I can't pry myself away from whatever it is that makes me happy. I get visibly upset if I'm away from a computer for more than eight hours at a time. I seriously have no idea what I would do if I didn't have a computer. But with drugs and/or alcohol, I can see the recreational usage of the things without ever having to go too far. I'm okay drinking only once or twice a month, getting a little tipsy and going dancing for a while. I don't mind smoking pot with my friends whenever they invite me, because it's not something I can see myself really wanting to do more than a few times a year. I suppose with others it can be way different, but for me, getting addicted to anything other than Engadget is really tough for me.
Try shit while you still can. Drugs are fun for most and a neat little change (in moderation) from the mediocrity that is everyday life.
