I liked Mr. Rogers a lot.  Bringing him up on Evilbore is just asking for him to be made fun of, though. :(

I don't believe there is anything bad to say about him.  I think out of all the appreciation threads dedicated to people, he deserves it the most.   :)

The two little books of his quotes are quite cool. You can hear in that first video the stylistic performance of the theme song, which was always done live and always a little different each time,  like that piece was. His show was so relaxing and Roger's voice could tame a wolverine.

My cousins told me when I was little that Mr. Rogers buried children alive under his porch. I believed them, and was scared of him, so I never watched his show.

One of the first shows:

I didn't know the show went that far back - it's incredible how the show holds its integrity through time without making any major changes.  It still disappoints me how shows like Sesame Street just don't seem to have the spark they used to...

Sesame Street used to pretty cutting edge humor for a edutainment show, the thing seemed to lose it's soul when Jim Henson died and Elmo filled that gap.

And Mr. Rogers :bow. Classic stuff, if I browsing channels and I see that is on PBS in a re-run I often turn it on.

That's a sad story. :(

His show was pretty boring, but it was so sweet and from everything I've heard, he really was a kind and generous man. Figures he'd die of something horrible like cancer.

He did an episode where he showed kids how pizza was made, and it was filmed in a pizza parlor not too far from where I live. I used to go there a lot as a kid because there was a Play Plaza next door (kind of like Chuck E. Cheese) and that was where all the cool kids hung out in elementary school. :)

I always wanted a stoplight in my living room because of Mr. Rogers.

I used to watch Mr Rogers everyday. There was something about his voice and demenor that always made me feel calm, and safe. He was truly a great man.

Even today if I'm flipping channels and see its on, I'll stop what I'm doing and watch

apparently mr. rogers was a practicing hedonist in real life, and would often hold lavish orgies on his estate.

Quote
"It really wasn't uncommon for [Mr. Rogers] to do really outlandish things at these events," Torres told interviewer James Solace in 1982. "He'd, like, dress up in a minotaur suit, with, you know, no pants, and he'd chase folks around. If he caught them, they'd let him [have anal intercourse with them]. It was sort of his thing, like he wanted to bring the old Greco-Roman hedonist style back. He actually had a special set of three interconnected sex rooms he called 'his neighborhood', and he'd bring in three folks off the street that we'd all take turns sodomizing with a zucchini. It was crazy, crazy [business]."

Alright, I'll do it:  Mr. Rogers was a schizophrenic who talked to puppets and thought he was talking to people in his living room.

Other than that, I always liked the village with puppets.
