it also played like ass. Crappy controls, crappy aiming, everything about it sucked. Too bad because the themes and story were first class, but the actual gameplay was handled by distinguished mentally-challenged fellows.

Didn't it sell like 9,000 copies or something ridiculously small like that?  I think the sales may have been affected by the godawful dubbing.

The game fucking rocks. It owns and I want to replay it.

The first month it sold less than 25k.

It's really because the mainstream press expected it to be fucking GTA in Japan and gave it 6's and ridiculous bullshit like that.

The Japanese version's script isn't anything like that. I don't know why Sega of America decided to do that at all.

Doing the same combos over and over? That's you. The game's interactive weapons and environments gave me an incentive NOT to use the same moves over and over.

If you think Yakuza had bad voice acting, go and play Baten Kaitos. Haruka is the only person in this game with truly horrible voice acting.

I have no problems with the combat in this game. Yeah it does get a little repetitive, but there's all sorts of weapons you can use and you learn newer moves later on. Nothing is forcing you to keep doing the same combo over and over.

Nothing is forcing me from doing different combos either, and if I can achieve the same result with that, why bother?

Who is complaining about voice acting? They may say FUCK a lot, but they can at least say it right. Well, some of them. SHOT THE FACK AP

The first game sold poorly enough that any parties interested in licensing it would be put off.  It's not like it has a sizable niche fanbase drooling in anticipation.  Also, it will look too poor very soon.

But now it's more than a year later, and the game doesn't look good in comparison to other new releases.  Plus, localization for such a voice heavy game would be costly for anyone but a large company; precisely the kind of company that would roll their eyes at the original game's sales.

It would be enough if they just subtitled it, but I know that will never happen. :(

I was looking forward to it before release, but playing it at DigitalLife changed my mind. I played about 60 seconds of the tutorial.

"Remember this combo"
"Perform it"
"Also remember these 20 combos"
"Perform them one by one"

I walked away with no intention of buying it, I want to play a game, not memorize tons of unnecessary crap like a high school math final.

The game sold pretty well in Japan. Bombed everywhere else, however. Doesn't help that it was expensive as hell to make too, and that I think Sega probably got halfway to breaking even.

Demi liked it; Himu, why did you dislike it?

It has extremely loose and crappy controls, too much emphasis Sonic and friends mentality, average levels, and questionable mechanics (the character switching thing is pretty wonky).

Not enough meat to it, and completely average all around. Still better than Shadow and Sonic 360/ps3 though. But considerably worse than Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and those were average to begin with.
