Lucas's last film - Episode III (by far the best of the prequels and better than ROTJ)
I may be pointing out the obvious, but you killed your cred with that statement. >:(

Except for the fact I'm not the first to say this.

Not really.  I may be in a small minority for Star Wars fans, but not movie fans.

Yeah, right.

Yes, I am right.

ROTS is the only Star Wars movie that made me angry at how awful it was.  The best of the prequel trilogy is The Phantom Menace (which isn't saying much), but the worst Star Wars movie of all, BY FAR, is Revenge of the Sith.  It's simply horrid.

AotC is much worse than RotS.  There's one good action sequence, and then they fuck that up with the Yoda flipping around like a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow shit.

lol, no.  AotC has a couple of inspired action sequences, including the one with Anakin and company fighting off the monsters in the arena and the awesome Jango Fett-Obi-Wan fight in the rain.  RotS is pure shit, through and through, and somehow the special effects GOT WORSE from the previous movie!

I kind of liked the scene with Obi-Wan fighting Jango Fett in the rain, but maybe I was just excited because something was finally happening.

ROTS had waaaaaaaaaaaaay better action than AotC. The Palpatine and Yoda fight scene was epic stuff in Episode III. The Yoda duel in AOTC on the other hand was meh.

And McDiarmid basically being in nearly every scene was very helpful. He is the only person in the prequels other than Liam Neeson who can work with the script and make it believable and not seem wooden. Other than that "NO NO NO YOU WILL DIE" scene with Mace (ugh  :-X) McDiarmid, dare I say had very good acting in RotS. But that is due to his greatness not out of Lucas' direction.

The best moments of RotS were within the first fifteen minutes. It may have been a lesser imitation of the original Star Wars but it had a spirited pace, and the neatest lightsaber fight in the movie. By the time RotS arrived in theatres my only expectation were of course enjoyable action sequences... and the final fight, kinda unmoving. It must have been the editing, sabotaging the lightning fast choreography with shots too close-up to the action. Kind of a disservice when you have such a cinematic setting.
Ewan McGregor deserves some recognition for pulling off what now appears the thankless task of drawing into the nuances of the original Obi-Wan Sir Alec performance. He was always watchable. Tried with what he could to make things fun.

The sad thing is that scene was filmed to be MUUUUUCH longer. Lucas filmed it as nearly a hour long sequence ala what Jabba's Palace stuff was in RoTJ. But he had so much story material he had to conclude to it got cut to hell.  :-\

I enjoyed all three prequels.

First of all, I thought the DVD cut of Episode I was much, much better. Sure, there is wooden acting, but the story of all of the prequels is great. There was some cringeworthy moments (now THIS is podracing, Jar Jar) but overall Episode I was entirely decent.

Episode II wasn't as good. I'm not going to argue with the fact that Lucas can't direct love sequences or write them. Then again, the OVERALL story still shines, and I don't let love sequences ruin the entire story for me. The action sequences again were great, and I enjoyed the film.

Episode III was, for me, on par with the originals. To say it is the worst of the prequels is absurd IMO. McDiarmid hits a fucking home run with his performance with Palpatine. Hayden Christiansen does a better job. The only painful part of the entire film is most definitely Natalie Portman. There was less love bullshit, which left more room for yet another great overall story. The lightsaber battles were well choreographed, the score is by far the best out of all the prequels... frankly you have to be massively anal in order to say Episode III is the worst. I really can't see that much wrong with the film besides Portman.

The first two were flawed, but for me they still pulled it off. I can understand how and why people can bash the prequels as well, but for me, Episode III is great, and it's my favorite prequel by far. It's the only one I saw more than once in theaters, and it's the only one I can truly call great.

The other two prequels I would probably give 6/10s, Episode III got an 8/10

I'm not opposed to Shia being anything, to be honest. Shia is actually a decent actor from what I've seen. He wasn't that bad in Disturbia.  The aliens idea is what is going to potentially fuck the movie over.

Russians in Area 51. WTF is that shit. Here is my plot for Indy 4:

In the years since his last adventure Indy has slowed down considerably. While he is now an even more world renowned professor at a university, his days of traveling the world for artifacts are long gone. Instead this job has been handed to his assistant, the young and daring Johnny Jamison (played by Leo Dicaprio). But an unexpected bit of news serves to pull Indiana back into the world of adventure.

Marion, Indiana's estranged lover, returns and tells him that his father is very sick. The elder Jones has been quite requisive since his last adventure. While visiting his father in London, Indiana later learns that his son - whom he hasn't seen in more than a decade - has been kidnapped by Germans. With the help of Jamison, Indiana returns to the US to save his son. But little does he know that the plot is bigger than anything he could imagine.

Marion reveals herself as a villian, angered by Indiana's indifference to her pregnancy so many years ago. Now it is up to Indy to stop Marion from leading a small group of Germans from re-creating the Nazi party - by bringing their fuher back to life. A map to the Garden of Eden has led them to a remote area of Turkey, and now it's a race against time as Indiana tries to save his son while also trying to stop the Nazis from regaining power!

making the love interest from the first, a beloved film classic love interest...A NAZI is worse than aliens.

It's worse than if Indy went to Area 51 and found E.T. and Jar Jar Binks together and they alongside Shia "The Fonz" LeBeouf have an adventure.

I hate to say it, but I think the enjoyment level of a given Indiana Jones movie is tied to its tackling of a religious subject that people are familiar with, but is still shrouded in mystery.  And Chariot of the Gods isn't going to cut it because it is 1) even more stupid and cheesy than most religious bullshit 2) not as familiar to the masses and 3) gay.

Now, we tackled Judaism and Christianity in the good Indy movies, and in the really shitty one we covered, I dunno, shit Thuggee cults.  I don't think eastern religions would be a very good target since the details are largely unknown to westerners.  Islam is out because we don't want people crashing airplanes into movie (a shame, because I really think a good movie could be done about the Assassins of Alamut).  I'm guessing Christianity is not a viable option at the moment because lol Da Vinci Load.

I dunno.  I can't come up with any answers, but I sure as hell know they could do better than lol aliens.

It makes since for Marion to become a Nazi. She was always a fire brand, and I remember her giving the arabs in Raiders some dirty looks. Remember when Indy tried to give her a date? She was like wtf is this a-rab filth, and gave it to the monkey. That sounds like a Nazi in the wing to me

Well, considering we're just shooting shit, mine would be about The Old Man of the Mountain and the Assassins of Alamut.  I'd have to think and do a wee bit of research before suggesting something detailed, but I think it is an area of history that hasn't been milked in mainstream entertainment media.

The site updated a bit on the alien thing:

Quote
Chariots of the Gods is about ANCIENT astronauts, and while alien contact with ancient cultures – and that involves the crystal skulls (and complete crystal skeletons!) – is the driving background of this story, I don’t believe many living aliens show up at all. So if you’re worried that Indy is flying in UFOs or having laser battles, drop that out of your mind now.

I guess this is confirmation then.  This movie is going to be fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.  RUSSIANS IN AREA 51!!!!!!!

Those are clearly mecha and there is absolutely nothing to suggest otherwise.

Except this alien plot line has been the one used in every script since they tried to get the film off the ground since the mid 90's.

yes, but every indiana jones has been infused with a racially paternalistic mindset, the unsophisticated natives taken advantage of by the worldy indiana.

it's spielberg's way.
