I want to wait but I just can't! I'm in the same predicament with FFT. I wanted to play it since Pops appeared on the PSP but the release this Fall is keeping me from playing it.

I should probably load up Arc the Lad instead

Arc the Lad 2... awesome game. One of the most "epic" feeling games I have ever played, dragged a bit towards the middle but the first and last part were pretty cool, story-wise. And some of the characters rock... Tosh especially. End boss is a fucking bitch though, took me almost 3 hours to defeat! 

And back on topic, SO2 is one of my favorite games of all time.

I'm going to play through Arc the Lad 1 for the extra items you get with the save file but yeah, I'm totally rushing through Arc 1 so I can play Arc 2

Either way, PSP for the win!

Yeah, treat ATL1 as not its own game, but as a 10 hour prequel to ATL2. You'll definitely get more out of the second one if you've played the first (not to mention the second game takes place right after the first one).
