Transformers thread on GAF makes me want to shoot nerds wholesale

This dude uses a marriage analogy to compare the difference in Transformer designs:

You're married for 10 years to the same person. Then one day, someone comes in and says "I'm your knew spouse, the one you've loved all this time, we're no longer going to use. If you have any problems, just remember...we are both humans and that's the same thing, right?"

ManaByte is complaining that they can "mass shift" when they first go to Earth to their new forms, so why can't they do that when they transform in general and keep their G1 designs?

That thread in general is enough to make me support the NERD HOLOCAUST.

i liked transformers as a kid. right now, the movie isn't even on my radar -- not because of what they're doing with the franchise, but because i don't give a fuck about transformers any more because i am fucking well past the age of caring about toy franchises.

I just hope they really nail Starscream's motivation and what fuels his ego. The entire series rests on this crucial plot device.

i liked the series as a kid but i don't remember much besides megatron being able to transform into a gun or something so i can't really comment on the authenticity but i like the trailer.

I was a huge Transformers fan back in the day. I had my Optimus Prime figure. But now I'm 20, and this is 2007. Transformers was a cheesy 80's cartoon. It was awesome yeah, but it simply doesn't translate well today. There needed to be changes. It's based on a fucking cartoon afterall.

It's not like this is Lord of the Rings, a heralded book loved by millions across the globe - now that in the hands of Michael Bay would indeed be a tragedy. Once agian, this is based on a cartoon that we loved when we were 6. When I was 6 I watched The Smurfs everyday; today you wouldn't see me crying or complaining if a movie was made and it was not only all CG, but *GASP* Papa Smurf had a goate instead of a Santa beard.
