I never understood why Pirates was so popular
« on: May 27, 2007, 01:29:05 PM »
The first movie was a fun popcorn flick but not anything special. It was an enjoyable movie, but that's it. I completely forgot about it a month after I saw it. Seriously. Are there any better pirate movies out there? Furthermore, I never understood why the first movie warranted sequels.

Johnny Depp is the best thing about the movies. If they didn't have Depp people would realize how "okay" they are.

Wake me up when Guybrush Threepwood stars in his own movie. Until then, I think I'll stick with Sinbad or Cutthroat Island or something.

It's cause you are a dumb ass. There is sword fighting, burried treasure and pirates in the movie. That's like a recipe for success.

Pirate movies are mostly terrible. :(  Try Ice Pirates, from the 80's.  :rock

I rather enjoyed the first pirates movie.  Depp is always fun to watch and it was entertaining. The second one was godawful.  I haven't bothered with the third yet.  If it's anything as ACTION PACKED as the second, I have no interest.  So much happened in that movie that the action started to bore me.  Weird.

But yeah, imagining Bloom trying to carry that series...or Knightley....:lol

We already established how partial you are to the big Hollywood blockbuster, so I will take this post with a grain of salt.

You just don't like it because it is the antithesis of Shenmue.
