What would life be like if 9-11 never happened?

I just wonder what difference it would be right now. There would probably have been no wars in Afgahnistan and Iraq, thousands of people that died as a trickle down effect from military action would be alive today, not to mention those in the WTC. Our government would have about several trillion dollars more worth of money, keeping the economy higher and with less debt the value of the dolalr would probably be pretty high. As a result of no military action most of the world wouldn't hate the US right now. George Bush would be joked on for being a dumbass only on choking on pretzals and making up words instead of executive flubs.

It's crazy to think if some fucked up radicals didn't pull off a lucky strike (conspiracy theories not withstanding), where we would be.

I think life would be a lot better in just about every way I think.  :gloomy

Who knows. Something like 9/11 was going to happen eventually anyway. Terrorism in the modern age is not a matter of if, but how often and when.

I would probably never hear 9/11 being thrown around, that's about it.

John Edwards would be president.

what

I think he would be president. Bush would have fallen into the same trap his father did when he lost to Clinton, a Washington outsider from the south. Edwards meets those requirements. There'd be no point in nominating Kerry or thinking about Wesley Clark if 911 didn't happen.

I agree with PD. Pre-9/11 Bush seemed like a very boring very do-nothing 1 term president. John Edwards right after the '00 election was seen as the clear front runner(around '03 dean fever started to come around).

In 08 Edwards could be the nominee. He is currently beating Hillary in the all important Iowa polls currently. Either Edwards or Warner will be the anti-Hillary. The left HATES Hillary and they are the ones who vote in primaries.

!!!!

Hillary sucks, and I'm glad the left realizes this. She has absolutely no chance of winning. Rove would really tear her apart with some subliminally sexist attack ads ("Strong men have led us through perillous times, from WWII to 911, and [insert 08 republican name] follows in their footsteps...).

Edwards will be attacked for being ignorant to foreign policy, so he's going to need a Cheney type figure as VP. Wesley Clark fits the bill perfectly imo.

The left has hated her for a few years now. All Hillary has is a lot of money. Democrats for the most part dislike her as a national candidate and do not believe she can win a general election. The only reason she does good in polls is because it is so early on and most people do not pay attention to politics close enough to know who is running yet and they recognize her name. This always happens. The early front runners like never win. People like Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan weren't yet recongized at this point in their respective primaries they had.
Kerry was not seen as a likely in his primary in 04 at this point either. All the attention was on Edwards and Dean.

The reason I get a vibe that Mark Warner will win is his so far in the exact same situation Carter & Clinton were. Unknown governer from a southern very republican state yet is beloved by the few who know him(Time Magazine ranked him as the greatest governer in the country a few years ago).

Also being a governer is VERY good for 08. They never had to vote on anything Iraq related so the flip-flop problems are non-existant.

He has one problem though. He co-founded Verizon which made him VEEEEERY rich. That can come back to bite him.
