anyone see any compatibility issues with this pc?
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:45:07 PM »
so a guy at work wants a cheap computer.  he's basically going to use it to surf the web and do work in Word etc.

so, can anyone spot anything to make this computer a little cheaper?  or to make it better for a similar price?  or does anyone see any compatibility issues with the hardware that i may have overlooked?

keep in mind what he'll be using it for.  thanks.

Most hardware comes from the same factory in Asia/Mexico anyway.

Are you building this for him or is he putting it together and you're just giving him part suggestions?

tell him to stop being a n00bf@g and build a computer worthy of playing Supreme Commander, then ship it to me.  :D

Edit: get faster ram

is faster ram or a videocard really necessary word processing and internet surfing?  I'm not being facetious, I just wanna know how big of a difference it would actually make.

Hope he doesn't expect you to support it when he gets shit installed on it and expects you to come over and clean it up.

Building computers for anyone sucks ass. Tell them to get a refurb Dell or something. Also, legit licenses of operating systems and productivity tools are a good thing.

Wouldn't really matter, unless he wants to run Aero on Vista and then something like integrated video might be a stretch.

i was just saying that the MBoard had no video and you didn't have a card picked out.  I'm sure it would run great, but you wouldn't be able to see shit.

We've already discussed support and he said he'd pay me.  He's paying me to do this.

He's going to get Windows XP, so he doesn't need all the frills of Vista

DeezNutz: rofl  thanks and this is why I ask you guys.

just go to fucking costco or sam's choice and grab a $349 core solo rig, like an acer or a compaq, pull the badge off, and put a media label that says "MUPEPE BRAND LOLPUTER" on it.

i thought of this, but I'm using his Amex card to do it so he'd know where I purchased it.

I would pay 750$ extra for a MUPEPE BRAND LOLPUTER MINI
