I don't care about national votes. Im young.

Florida counts more than my state. My state always votes dem, but its not like its for good reasons either lolz. I mean seriously. Most republicans are middle-aged to old. Most dems are probably young kids. I am not surprised if people dont have faith in the national system after the past two elections.

Of course narrow margin victories wouldnt be possible if democratic candidates didnt all out suck. State politics ftw. National poltics are under-handed and dirty these days and everyone gets away with it.

That's right, I dont have stats to back this post up, cause if there's anything I learned from my statistics class, its that statistics are dumb. Generalizations ftw.

Republicans have always maintained that democrats are young and unprincipled and will never stand up for the right way.  I think we need more dems.

If you have Democrats that give religion a big thumbs down they're going to do even worse... hey, I'd love a Pres that wasn't religious/didn't pretend he was religious/etc., but in this day and age you can forget that.

If more Democrats would vote, then Republicans would be crying. Unfortunately, trends seem to show that Republicans are the ones that stick to voting in large numbers whereas despite the high number of registered Democratic voters in the country, a lot of them simply don't vote. That's half the problem really. The other half being Democrats not being able to "connect" with people on the fence or whatever -- but something tells me that wouldn't even be a factor if enough Democrats themselves voted.

What should democrats vote for? A bad democratic candidate? Is that REALLY better than a republican candidate?

The democratic PARTY needs to instill some confidence in its people. We've had two elections now that have seemed pretty rigged, and it wasnt even like our heart was in it for those elections either.

It isnt that democrats aren't voting, its that fewer and fewer people WANT to be involved in the crooked national process, period. Honestly I wouldnt be opposed to Washington State splitting off on its own, I am really sick and tired of National politics.

Democrats and Republicans can have each other, im done with it.

I don't have the answers, I'm just giving my ten cents like you and everyone else. But I don't think there was necessarily anything BAD about Kerry and Gore, in my opinion. And even if you saw it that way... who would you rather see in the White House today, Kerry or Bush? To borrow some laughs from South Park for a moment, even if one is a douche and the other a turd sandwich, which is the lesser of two evils to you?

As for people's hearts not being in the elections... when Gore lost, I think a lot of people's hearts were in it, the guy after all did also win the popular vote if only by a little. That's a lot of people who care. Gore should have won.

Kerry didn't, because he wasn't that great of a public speaker, was a bit slow in defending himself, and he had a hard time getting his message out to people on the fence. But to someone who maybe isn't so obsessed with public image, like myself, I don't really care if other people didn't like him because he didn't look, talk and act "presidential enough", I think he had some good ideas and he was a better bet than George W. Bush. And that's good enough for me. This isn't fucking American Idol. You take your chances just like anything else in life.

Except 2004 had the highest turn out of any election in history. George Bush had more votes than any other candidate and John Kerry had more than any other candidate in history other than Bush.

And 2006 likely will have one of the highest turn outs for a off year election.
