And I'll be starting this later tonight:

What do you think of PN03, Himuro?

I am loving it. Capcom is the best action game developer out there. Their expertise covers action from all across the board: from shooters (PN03) to beat em ups (God Hand), to genres they themselves created such as survival action horror (Resident Evil 4), and stylish action (Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 3). They've even got the action platforming mastered (Maximo, Megaman).

In a word, PN03 rocks. I love the learning curve. I beat God Hand last week so this is complimenting that game nicely. Actually, it reminds me of God Hand in many ways. It's not a conventional take on the genre, it emphasizes on mastering the game mechanics so you can get by, and best of all: defense is just as important as offense.

Game is sex. It's like Gun Valkyrie with a better concept and controls.

Im just playing Etrian Odyssey, I kinda gave up on Odin Sphere. fighting the same shitty boss 5 times is not my idea of fun, too bad because the story rocks. i'll probably pick it up later to finish the game so I can enjoy the story.

sure I fight the same boss a lot on Megaman Zero, but at least in Megaman Zero the action is awesome and badass, Odin Sphere problem is that the bosses are SO obviously not designed around certain characters so either you way overpowered for the boss with a character (hello Mercedes, Oswald) or you character is fucked because the boss was clearly not designed with that character in mind (Velvet). so instead you got this unbalanced mess where only items and being overleveled can bail you out.

I was enjoying the game a lot at first but the action is not deep enough to warrant 30-40 hours of gameplay, should've been a 15 hours game at most.

Sucks the gameplay in OS is disappointing Error.

We usually agree on games, so I do you think I should pick up OS in the mean time or should I wait on it? I decided to wait on it because the only new game I'm getting between now and when I get my 360/hdtv is of course, P3.

yeah the action in Odin Sphere is way too shallow for a 40 hours game, like I said should've been 15-20 hours game and I would've probably like it a lot more.

play with Mercedes and you'll see how utterly broken the game is, some bosses go down in an instant with her. same thing with Oswald. I dont see anything technical or skill based about Odin Sphere battle system.

oh another thing I really fucking hate is that, when you are doing a combo against an enemy they take damage yeah but they can still attack you even while you are doing a combo against that enemy, it's like they are not being attacked at all and since you cant cancel combos in the game you leave yourself open for a clean hit. I fucking hate that shit. which makes wonder why the fuck should I bother with a combo in the game? so you just like wait for the enemy to attack so you can at least do a combo without being afraid of getting your ass kicked, but then the problem is that it's not always one on one it's like 15-18 enemies at once.

then you reach a point where you are like "ok fuck this" *uses a napalm potion" clear the whole crowd of enemies get your S ranks, get your 'loot', proceed to next stage untill you reach the boss stage, rinse/repeat the same shit for 40 hours fighting the same bosses and in the same areas.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

if the game wasnt as beautiful as it looks it would've gotten mostly 6/10 or 7/10 scores.

I dont' see why developers have the urge to make games that can be beaten in 15-20 hours 30-40 hours long. It's getting annoying.

The latest Guilty Gear XX rehashupgrade.  Features some new game play additions, plus new special AND normals for all the characters, and new backgrounds and voices.  The announcer's voice is really, really lame now.  Almost annoyingly so.

Fucking awesome controls with the Wii remote and nunchuck combo, the visuals of the GC version, PLUS the extras from the PS2 version make this the best version of the game, period.  Still looks nice overall, but man does that lack of color hurt at times, especially on an HDTV.

The new Asian version, which has Japanese/Korean voice with English/Chinese subtitles.  I'm not an RPG player, but I was really interested in BD, and it's been fun to play so far.  Plus the main character doesn't sound or dress like a little girl, for once.

Back to this kick-ass game, now playable in up to 1080p on PS3!  It rocks!!

Gearing up for KOF Maximum Impact 2 Regulation A next month.

I dont' see why developers have the urge to make games that can be beaten in 15-20 hours 30-40 hours long. It's getting annoying.

It's just with RPGs, and that number is always a lie anyway.   :P

I think it's like this...

Guilty Gear XX
Guilty Gear XX #Reload
Guilty Gear XX SLASH
Guilty Gear Accent Core

Plus there's Guilty Gear Isuka, if you want to count that.  Accent Core is supposed to be the best, which makes sense since all the upgrades do is just keep on tweaking and tuning the engine.  At least Arc has also made Hokuto No Ken and Battle Fantasia in addition to all these Guilty Gear games.  My only disappointment with the game is that despite having supposed "rerecorded voices," they still sound a bit muffled like the other Guilty Gear games do.

It is indeed the rock.  But I want to see KOF XII already!  Also you should get pumped for NeoGeo Battle Coliseum.  It's fucking awesome too, BUT remember if you play it on PS2, long load times galore.  Not a problem on PS3.

yeah Im gonna get NGBC too (even tho I hate long loadings in fighting games), I want to support SNKP good decisions!

the dream cancel on KoF XI is so freaking badass and all the changes they made to KoF 2k3 tag team system make sense, plus Vanessa is in KoF XI I missed her in 2k3. even tho 2k3 is not a great KoF I still enjoyed it because I like the changes they made and it seems with XI they took those changes improved on them and they added some really good mechanics to it (Skill Gauge for instance).

yeah I cant wait for XII too, just because I want to see if they deliver on their promises and new sprites on a SNK fighting game makes me all hot and bothered. tho looking at how badass XI turned out to be Im not doubting SNK anymore. my only concern with XII right now is the game will probably have a small roster (Im used to KOF with huge rosters) but I guess that's the price to pay when you are starting from 0.

I loved GG XX and I bought Reload iirc, but seriously it's time to move on Arc Systems. make Guilty Gear XXX, III, 3 what the fuck ever or bust.

I like how GG fans are like "XX is one of the most balanced fighters out there" well uh... no SHIT! when a game gets so many revisions/upgrades/rehashes. it's bound to be balanced at least.

Word.

Arc Systems released a Fist of the North Star fighter that uses Guilty Gear's fighting system, and some other game I forgot, but for the most part they're so disappointing. They have the potential to be the best fighting game developer out there, and as we all know, 2d fighters are mostly DEAD, and all they spend time on are fucking Guilty Gear rehashes. So disappointing and so much potential WASTED.

Well, I actually think that´s the point.  A fun game is good.  But balanced AND fun is better.  Starcraft didn´t ship as a balanced game either, the three races were slightly unequal in power.  Blizzard fixed this balance issues with the patches.  Fighting games don´t have this luxury, so that is why companies have to launch them again with the new mechanics and rebalancing.

And if companies like CAPCOM didn´t like rehashes, you would have never got your beloved Alpha 3, which is basically an update with new characters and mechanics.

But Capcom also released a lot of non SF stuff, and even evolved their SF games past the SFII formula.

I've only played a few levels of it, haven't had time to pick up more... but I hear reports that it gets a tad repetitive as you get further into the game. The soundtrack is amazing, though.

Odin Sphere is 40 hours? Fuck, I'm like 3 hours in and it feels like it should be wrapping up soon. I think one problem is the game plays like a mindless button masher, but the action is broken up too much by load times and inventory management that there is no flow to it. I kill stuff for like 2 minutes and then spend 5 cleaning up my inventory. Good thing I game fly'd it.

I am playing:
Daxter PSP - Awesome platformer, console quality in my hands! This is the kind of game I bought a PSP for.
MLB 07 The Show PSP - Road to the show is so addictive. I started over 3 times before I got through spring training with a pitcher I like.
WiC Beta PC - The CS/Battlefield of RTS. I kinda like it though sucks that I can't run it on my home machine.
Crackdown 360 - Need to finish off the last gang and play some more of the Halo 3 beta before I send it back to Gamefly.
Dragon Warrior 3 GBC - Not very far in because the GBC emulator for OSX is garbage.

My DS has Pokemon and Dotstream in it but I am not really feeling either right now. I just sent MLB 2k7 360 back to Gamefly and my queue looks like this:

1. Shadowruin
2. Flopza 2
3. Lost Planet
4. Crush
5. Ratchet and Clank PSP
6. Kim Possible (don't judge me I heard it was a good platformer)
7. Killzone Liberation
8. Yakuza
9. Saints Row

So I'll probably have at least 2 of those by the end of this week, plus I'm gonna scope out the EB near my internship tomorrow at lunch see what they have in used PSP games that I haven't played.

Seriously? Okay, I'll send Odin Sphere back and bump Kim Possible up. Gamefly sent me Lost Planet, I guess they didn't have any copies of Shadowruin or Flopza left.

Also I bought Crush, I'm only on like the third or so real level, but this seems like the kind of game the PSP needs more of. Nice graphics, great concept, easy to pick up and play in short bursts etc. The production values are a little cheap, but overall it seems good.

Oh and FWIW the EBGames at the Howard Hughes center in Culver City is pretty decent. Dude didn't try and sell me extra shit, and when I asked him if they had any sealed copies of Crush he didn't flip out on me. He told me they had none, but if I didn't want the opened copy they had he'd understand. Said he used to feel the same way about preopened games before he started working there. I decided to buy the game anyhow because I figure its gonna be hard to find otherwise.

:)This game is fun as hell. Also, you dont have to blow people heads up when draining them to get energy. You can drain them a little then just make them fly across the room. I rate this game a 9/10.
