I picked up Falling Down for 14 dollars today, and I was thinking back about how great this movie was, and how sometimes I can sympathize with the character michael douglas portrays. Then while considering the scene at the fast food establishment, I realized this movie may soon be a work of fantasy.
I Want BreakfastIt all comes down to McDonalds. Known for their breakfast sandwiches, I can honestly see Michael's plight at being unable to enjoy the tasty breakfast morsel after a hard morning of commuting. But then ya think, recently McDonalds has toyed and possibly implemented 24 hour breakfast at its many establishments. This changes things.
Granted, Whammyburger isn't McDonalds, but reality could dictate that what we see in Falling Down is a work of pure horrible fantasy. "Imagine a world where you can only get a breakfast sandwich before 11am!" Kids will wonder at this 20 years from now as they watch the movie on cable at 8pm while eating McDonalds breakfast sandwiches. The entire scenario would seem fantastical from their point of view; they might even scoff a little. In short, thanks to McDonalds, Falling Down will exist in the same realm as films like Harry Potter. Where a simple inaccuracy in the availability of breakfast sandwiches will rank up there with a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow riding a broom to catch a robot bee.
