I still watch one episode every now and then. No, I don't have Robotech as a reference, which looks like a total travesty anyway.
One of the best series ever, very in advance for its time (1984) when it comes to the level of storytelling in an animated drawing broadcasted on TV. Very epic compelling themes, cool as hell robot models, incredible soundtrack, nicely drawn-out characters...
Yes I've viewed Macross Plus, and it is excellent too, though very different (way more philosophical). For the rest, since the company that produces Robotech holds the right to everything Macross, and does a blockade to everything else Macross-related in order not to hurt Robotech itself... we won't see anything in Region 1. Most follow-up series appear corny anyway.
This one's a classic well-worth watching today.
