Portable baseball FTW. Easily the most fully realized portable baseball game ever. And it is actually good.

I think the only drawback with the PSP version is the load times.

I did what you suggested last time and pumped as many points as it would let me into stamina to start. Then I put some in fastball velocity and control. By the end of spring training my fastball was up to 94mph on average and I could touch 98. I averaged like 300 training points a start.

Sadly I'm struggling in the minors, I can't seem to strike anyone out anymore and my defense is a lot worse.

Haha im doing 101 mph fastballs right now. Kinda silly. Screwballs and Sinkers are my greatest friends right now since even a super fast heater is predictable kinda ;)

The minors are too easy and the majors are too hard as a pitcher so far, but I think it has more to do with me CHOKING under the gun of Spring games and can never qualify :(

I pitched pretty awesome during spring training, no walks, almost a strike out an inning, an era around 1 and I still didn't make the majors. I pitched better than my last attempt and yet it says I'm the #5 starter for Tacoma (although I'm actually the #4 starter). I'm trying to develop my secondary pitches more, because you're right the computer calls for the fastball a lot at first and the cpu hitters will hit it no matter how fast it is. Gotta be able to mix it up.

My secondary pitches are circle change and a slider, similar to what I threw in real life.

If I get bored I'll make a pitcher with a crazy repetoire and see if I can succeed.

It sucked the end of my first season they're like they wanna bring you up to AAA, you start on 9/5.....9 fucking 5. And I wasn't put in to pitch and the season ended almost right after. Then they offer me a 4 year contract with the fuckin JAXX AGAIN but no offering to Tacoma so I said F YER CONTRACT and tried Spring Training again :(

I've made Tacoma in my 3 attempts so far, but the first two times I replayed every game until I got 100 training points at least. Now 100 points just isn't enough haha.

Wow, I haven't played a baseball game since like World Series Baseball on the Genny... I was a hardcore Baseball Stars nut back in the day tho. That was such a fucking awesome game, creating a team and shit, I still have a copy. Reggie Jackson Baseball on SMS has cool music and isn't bad either.

Playing Road to the Show as a non pitcher is frustrating. I hit a 3 run home run one game, then the next two games Hagrove bats me 9th and 8th (NL game). I go something crazy like 6-7 with a couple doubles and runs scored and force him to bat me fifth again. But then I guess my got tired so I start playing only every other day and I'm back down to 9th in the lineup. I lead the team in avg, obp, slg, and ops! I'm first in RBI and second in HR and XBH.

I also only get like 30-40 training points a game which I guess is like getting about 200 a start as a starting pitcher, but it feels like I progress so much slower.

Oh well, Roy Hobbs and Wonderboy are gonna force Rauuuuuuuuuuuul to retiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire.

I finally made it to AAA. I flipped out when I pitched a shutout till the 8th inning and the coach pulled me out before the 9th and the closer gave up 6 runs and we lost the game. OH MAN WE HAD WORDS

I dunno, screwball doesn't get called often. Then again the catchers is often wrong cause he wants to fastball 65% or so of the time with change ups outside or down at the knees on 2 strikes and thats just fucking predictable so I end up just saying f u pitcher and throwing sinkers high and inside which is pretty potent if you've been pitching away a bit.

What other pitches do you have? I ignore him most of the time. You can control batters with simple things like tight inside pitches to push them away from the plate or leading them inside towards the plate with pitches outside only to throw one inside on em.

I've seen my catcher drop so many balls I pitch and my manager make so many dumb choices, at least in the minors, I feel like a fuckin genius :(

You have to learn the other pitches in training then practice them through training.
