CoM's plot was crap. It borrowed only the things from the book that make no sense together and added new characters that made no sense and fucked up the ending.

Children of Men isn't the greatest book in the world but the movies focus on the govt chasing them instead of theo's personal growth as a character was a big for the lose since THEO is the focus of the book.

Dude, the movie is amazing for what it is. It's one of my favorite films of 2006, and the universal acclaim it has gotten from critics AND internet elitists is quite impressive.

I'm not gonna turn this into a CoM bitchfest, but saying that Theo isn't the focus of the movie when he's in EVERY FRICKIN SCENE is stupid. There's also plenty there showing his development, but you have to look for it.

And Michelle, you still have terrible taste even if you think it's fashionable to agree with the cool kids sometimes.

No, im pissed they weren't smart enough to take the RIGHT elements from the book. CoM the movie had a very weak plot which IMO is kinda important for a movie.

CoM the movie is actually really excellent, this thread is worse than your CRUSH one. I would normally be agreeing with you about how Will Welcome to Earf Smith is going to fuck up one of my favorite horror movies but instead I have to talk about how you think CoM is a bad movie and that Theo shows no growth in it. lol. I liked the movie a lot more than the book fwiw!

The story isn't "bad", it's just sci fi. I think people are mad there weren't any laser guns and jet packs.

To those who think the movie is meh/good/average/bad/etc: would you cede that technically the movie is very impressive? Like, in terms of the cinematography, including the amazing tracking shots

JUST good cinematography does not a good movie make. I've already mentioned Clive Owen's great acting and the great long shot, but the plot was scrambled garbage. They didn't go all the way making it their own, instead borrowing some of the weirdest parts of the book and inventing new characters.
