The officer, identified as Kenji Ito, 25, of Izumi Police Station in Kanagawa Prefecture, allegedly attempted to take a photo up the skirt of a 19-year-old college student, using his cell phone, as she went up an escalator.
TOKYO A 30-year-old children's program director at NHK was arrested Friday for allegedly groping a 17-year-old high school girl on a train. It was the third arrest of an NHK employee on sexual assault charges in the past 10 days. According to police, the incident happened on the Tokyu Denen-Toshi line about 8 a.m. The man, identified as Yosuke Imai, allegedly put his hand up the dress of the high school girl.

Tsunemasa Arikawa, 42, a professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate Schools for Law and Politics allegedly caressed the thighs of a 20-year-old female company employee on the Yamanote line around 6 p.m. on May 11.

MACHIDA Police on Monday arrested a 34-year-old man on charges of choking his 28-year-old wife to death in Machida. The man, identified as Hitoshi Kawakami, allegedly attacked his wife Kazuko at their apartment in Morino, Machida, around 9 p.m. on Sunday night.
OSAKA A man who groped a girl on a morning rush-hour train jumped onto the tracks and disrupted operations in Osaka, West Japan Railway officials said. At around 8:15 a.m., a man apparently in his 30s and wearing a business suit allegedly touched a 15-year-old girl on the Osaka Kanjo Line and other passengers caught him red-handed, officials said.
