I've only seen the first two seasons too, Frag. I think I missed the last few episodes of Season 2 though, and that's why I stopped watching. I always meant to catch up, but never did. I used to have a back-to-back Monday lineup of 24 and The Shield. It was glorious.

I bought, uh, season 2 of the shield. Millenium season 1 (never seen it, but I am a sucker for X-Filesy shit, and hey, it was only 20 bucks). The DOORS (even though I hate them, Oliver Stone was the bomb when his game was on). And The Corporation. And a stack of blank DVDs so I can burn me some DOCTOR WHO.

I think you'll REALLY like this series. It's one of my favorites, brilliantly written for the first two seasons, and does both occult and horror at the same time. Also, Lance Hendrickson is amazing in it.

Sad to see the series take a nosedive in Season 3 and then get killed off. It was really, really good.

That's how the show likes to portray itself, and Mackey is a pretty awesome badass, but it is a legitimately good television show with a bit of depth to it. Mackey isn't a one note character, either, but playing up to his badassness is what people apparently like.

I find Mackey's weaknesses-and all the complications that they cause for him-far more interesting than his badassitude.
