Casino Royale was pretty fucking awesome.  I liked it more than the two Bourne movies.  The second Bourne movie especially made me nauseous with the weird constant shakycam.

I'm going to have to admit that the shaky-cam fucked up the fight in the house in Supremacy. It didn't fuck up the incredible car chase though.

I think shakycam is a sign that the director isn't confident he can direct an action scene that can be edited cleanly.  It's bad form.

The first four Bond movies and OHMSS make me question this decision, or at least that's the fondness of nostalgia talking.  If we are talking about most everything after those, and especially the more recent films, then hell yes Bourne is absolutely better.  Casino Royale was trash.  The Bond franchise is dead.

Critics are distinguished mentally-challenged.  They gave Weezer's Pinkerton NO STARS and Let's Go To Prison scored like nothing on the rotten tomato.

Many critically acclaimed movies are crap. :(

Casino Royale was trash.  The Bond franchise is dead.

Casino Royale's box office (most successful Bond movie), critical reception (best reviewed wide release last year), and fan reception (save for a small niche of you crazy interweb folks) say otherwise. The Bond franchise is on more solid footing now that it has been in 30 years. CR is the best Bond film ever (yes, I finally said it; just tops FRWL and OHMSS), and I personally enjoyed it more than either Bourne film (but I love both of those as well).

Do I...give a shit?  As has been previously stated, critics should have no bearing on one's opinion.  They certainly don't on mine.

I refrain from the nauseating use of "IMO" in my posts, but I'll clarify things: the Bond franchise is dead TO ME.

The Departed was reviewed better. Metacritic is a better measuring bar than Rotten Tomatoes.

Yes, it would be. I usually stick to Rotten Tomatoes since it's what EVERYONE uses, but its system is too simple. Metacritic takes the actual scores into consideration, not just "favorable" or "unfavorable"

I'd say you can go either way.  Bond's best iteration, From Russia with Love, is fucking leagues better than Identity.  However, on the whole, the Bourne series is much more enjoyable than watching the majority of the Bond films.  When a good Bond film comes out, it's really fucking good.

To deny Casino Royale's awesome though is pure shit.  It's the best Bond in over thirty years.

What does Bond represent, PD?  :-\

To me he represents this very archaic character who always gets the girl(s), doesn't sweat or bleed, etc. Granted that changed in Casino Royale, but I'm talking more about Connery - who is still the iconic one. I don't like any of the old Bond movies, and find them all to be repulsive. I hate the rampant sex and the extremely repetitive plot devices. While Bond is definitely badass, his villians are extremely stupid to comical porportions. I don't like the series, period.

Want to know how to kill Bond? Send an AIDS infested chick to his house. He may not die right away, but he won't be jumping out of planes anytime soon >:(

MATT DAMON

Every time I think of James Bond I think of

James Bond fucking owning people because the actor they cast kicked ass and

some of the hottest girls ever. Especially Eva Green.

Casino Royale kicked ass. If you found something to nitpick in that film, then I don't see how. You must be high or fucking distinguished mentally-challenged or too anal to see straight. More than likely the anal part.
