got a question (screen resolution)
« on: June 16, 2007, 10:40:44 PM »
I own an 8800GTX video in my PC

However, the resolution will only go up to 1024x768.  I KNOW I can get a higher resolution than that. it wouldn't piss me off if I didn't want some widescreen resolutions for my hdtv.

help plz

Limitation on your Monitor? It'll set the highest resolutions based on the abilities of your monitor (if its an LCD)

ok i fixed the problem via the checkbox for the limitations.  Now, I have my TV as an extended monitor for my main monitor, but I can't make the resolution any higher than 1024x768.  It seems to be linked to the limitations of my other monitor.

Is there any ways to fix it?

ATI's software has some options for enabling HDTV resolutions so you can hook yourself up to an HDTV. There might be something like that squirreled away somewhere in your options.

I don't think so.  It recognizes it as a Samsung HDTV, and I can raise the resolutions of my Dell (1024x768) monitor after I take off the restriction, but not for my HDTV

Nope.  Mine doesn't have any settings to add a new resolution.  In fact, under the Geforce tab, there isn't anything in there that has to do with the resolution.

Is there an INI file for your TV type? Most monitor manufacturers have an INI file that contains specific settings for the monitor; dunno if HDTV manufacturers do the same, but you might wanna check around via google. I'm surprised it won't let you change the settings from the monitor tab, though.

ok, got it working with my hdtv...

For some reason, it will only recognize it as an hdtv when I don't have my computer monitor connected as well...  gay!

also, now everything looks funny.  like really hard to read.  i have to use the zoom window via my mouse to read anything really.  It is this same way with every resolution except 480p   wtf?  any way to fix this?

also, it's overscanning like a motherfucker.  nvidia's idea of fixing it is letting the screen pan to see the rest of everything?  what the hell is with that?  any way to fix it so i don't have to pan like a douche while I play supreme commander?

How do you have your TV hooked up? Sometimes they go goofy when they're in PC mode, and you don't have access to all the resolutions you may want.
