So here's my story: I graduated this week. I get $700 in graduation money. Awesome.
At our school after graduation we have a Chem Free party where if you go and promise not to have sex or drink beer or smoke blunts or eat out a girl you can win a new car or all kinds of prizes. I won a alarm clock and a desk lap totalling $40.
At the Chem Free they gave everyone a gift bag. Inside was a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, $10 Applebees Card, $10 Exxon moble card.
Then today I get a letter saying Social Security will be writing me 3 checks for the grand total of $2000 because they don't think my mom is good enough to handle my money.

So in all, I made about $3000 for graduating. So far I've bought:

Wii:
Zelda
Excite Truck
Godfather

DVD:
Scrubs Season 5
Ladder Match
A Fistfull of Dollars SE DVD
For a Few Dollars More SE DVD

and now the rest (about $1500), I can't decide on if I should buy a MacBook or a paid trip to Disney World. What do you think?

Get the MacBook. The trip to Disneyland would be fun, but it would only last for however long you stay. After that you'll forget about it and not care. The MacBook will at least last a good while.

During my counseling practicum in graduate school, I'd counsel a lot of college freshman who would come to me totally freaked out about being broke. We'd sit down and look at their spending habits, and I'd always see them in a situation like the OP. Get a ton of graduation money, and blow it in literally two days flat.

My favorites were always the ones who spent $1,000's on beer. Nothing but beer.
