Marc Forster has signed on to direct the next installment in the James Bond franchise for Columbia Pictures and MGM.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Agent 007 in the film, which has a working title of "Bond 22."

Forster -- whose credits include "Stranger Than Fiction," "Finding Neverland" and "Monster's Ball" -- recently wrapped "The Kite Runner," based on Khaled Hosseini's best-selling novel

The only movie I've liked from him was Stranger Than Fiction and it wasn't even really good.

Fantastic choice. STF and FInding Neverland were great.

Let's hope this is even better than the alread amazing 'royale.

Maybe it's gigantic distaste for Will Ferrell. I don't even think that's warranted. I really enjoyed it when I first saw it, but the more I looked back, the more I don't like it.

No, he hasnt. And thats my only worry. Hes proven to be a solid non-action (AKA drama) director, but who knows what skills he does or doesnt have when it comes to setting up and shooting action.

It seems like there's a shift in focus here. Action is either no longer a priority or someone feels that it should take a backseat to drama -- or at least that's what this recent trend of hiring "drama" directors would appear to suggest. Batman Begins/The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Bond 22: all helmed by directors with little, to no proven ability to direct an action sequence. And it's no secret how I feel about how Nolan's work turned out.

Anyway, regarding Bond, the last few movies before Casino Royale have me burnt out on any future action prospects for the series. If the director choice implies what I suspect, I'll be looking forward to a more serious, dramatic Bond.

It's far easier to learn how to direct action sequences than it is to direct actors. It's a good shift, because the last two decades have seen films become really hollow.

Every time I read "Casino Royale was shit" my brain converts that into that person declaring their faggotry.

Anyways, this is massively great news, as I loved the fuck out of Stranger than Fiction. This is a much better director grab than I though capable of the Bond team.
