WASHINGTON (CNN) — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg changed his party affiliation from Republican to unaffiliated Tuesday, a move that will surely increase speculation he is considering an independent White House bid.But Bloomberg, who has repeatedly denied he is planning a run, said in a statement his future plans haven’t changed.“Although my plans for the future haven’t changed, I believe this brings my affiliation into alignment with how I have led and will continue to lead our City,” he said.
The public critique of the presidential contest could be part of an effort on Mr. Bloomberg's part to lay the groundwork for an independent presidential bid. However, he insisted yesterday that he plans to serve as mayor through 2009 and then return to private life."I'm not a candidate for president," Mr. Bloomberg said. "My next career will be in philanthropy. I've done the government thing."
Not happening assfaceQuoteThe public critique of the presidential contest could be part of an effort on Mr. Bloomberg's part to lay the groundwork for an independent presidential bid. "My next career will be in philanthropy. I've done the government thing."If he did enter the race, he would immediately be the best presidential candidate.
How bout this. . .if Bloomberg enters the presidential election, I will let Father Mike fuck me in the ass?If he were considering it, he wouldn't be giving it flat out denials, not to mention it's kind of late to jump into the race.
Some of Bloomberg's friends, however, take that denial with a wink."He certainly hasn't formally launched the campaign, but he's made every intelligent move that will put him in position to launch a campaign next year," said the New York P.R. titan Howard Rubenstein, a Bloomberg friend who also represents the mayor's private company."He's positioning himself so he can say yes or no. And he's doing a brilliant job of denying that he's running and yet creating the impression that he is."
