Liberal blogs are only really good near elections, and even then only tolerable when they are talking polls and stats. That's presuming you love the sport of election season, which I definitely do. Otherwise, I just scan them for news now and then.
Free Republic has that sort of super-conservative edge to it which makes them a funnier read than the liberal crazies. Thinly veiled racism, violence as a solution, and the presence of some degree of moral absolutism-things no liberal blog's community would tolerate-come together to turn the batshit crazy dial all the way up.
I wish there was a good left-leaning blog that had a community that:
*) Had no problems not being PC, no slurs but then again no tiptoeing common language so as not to piss of some hypersensitive reader.
*) Spoke of the hardcore American conservative with the same degree of contempt as a normal person would of child pornographers.
*) Gleefully mocked people of faith, while observing their right to be as dumb as they want.
*) Didn't have any aspirations or delusions of influence in the political arena.
I'd post there. I was just commenting recently on how much I sort of didn't like blanket tolerance as part of the liberal stereotype-not all of us are love-everyone dirty hippies.
