You said it man. Forza 2 wishes it could be this fun. I love how if you crash into a fence pieces of the fence can stay on your car while you drive lol. I drove half a mile with a fence post blocking most of my view.

Achievements are better than Forza as well. Only like 3 online ones that seem easy to get, the rest is all offline. And it probably looks gorgeous on HD. This game will be a visual piece to show others.

Well, if I can get others to come inside my room.  :'(

HiDef is really a nice jump tho. I do find PGR3 looks better on SDTVs tho for some reason.

The only thing that worries me is that SD games - PS2, GCN, and Xbox, Wii (lol) will look like poop. I still have games to play on those systems. Do they look ok on yours? I think you use a PS3 and X360 and GCN though.

Also what TV do you have? So I can use it for reference when looking around.

PS2 looks fine, but I switched to the PS3 (lol) cause it upscales games to 720p now. Most HDTVs will do 480p wich doesnt look bad with PS2 games. Only bad thing is if you get a widescreen hdtv (and why the hell not), MOST ps2 games arent widescreen.

Is it like previous CMR, or have they gone more arcadey with it? Any single-car modes?

Huh, I just noticed that they dropped the Colin McRae license for the US version.

The way the cars handle is far less arcadey than Rallisport Challenge. There's also a lot of tweaking to do between races to handle different tracks.

I didnt play much ColMcRae back in the day so I dont have that as a reference.

DiRT is enjoyable if you don't give a shit about acheivements.  Awesome looking too.  Except for the amount of cars, it's better looking than Motorstorm.

i've been anticipating playing it since the demo.  i was curious about achievements because of the short time i usually keep rented games.  i'm already convinced it's great though, i've always loved the CMR gameplay.  motorstorm was okay, just a little too arcadey for my tastes.  dirt has the right balance of both.

Easy, the only one that's bothersome is driving 1000 miles -- when you finish Career Mode all the way, you'll only rack up about 500, so you gotta drive another 500 in Career Mode and just that, so you would have to replay the entire game again. I just rubberbanded my controller and drove in circles all night.

That's pretty hard to do, no?  A slight deviation would cause the car to eventually get walled.
