That's a fairly decent motherboard, but it will become totally outdated whenever ATi releases new chips.  It is socket 939, which they are already phasing out in favor of AM2.  You can still get some nice chips for it. . .probably really really cheap ones, too.

It's a good board.

tvc, could you direct me towards a good setup that will work with it?  basically, what's the best processor I can put in it?

Demi: How much are you willing to part with?  It lists as 150 on newegg still.

You heard TVC, it's gonna be phased out, why would I pay $150 for that? Give you 5 bucks.

Ugh, it looks like the went back and changed most of their more recent "old" processors to AM2.  The best 939 one I could find now is a 3800 x2.

(still a good processor, mind you, but don't expect it to compete with a C2D or anything)

939s used to go up to 4800 x2 (I think there may have been a 5000 release, too).  Maybe if you poke around elsewhere?  I just went with NewEgg since they are like, the number 1 source on this shit, online.

bah, i've already got a 2.8ghz core2duo.  I guess I'll see how much I can fetch for it.

demi, or anyone else:  if you're really interested, PM me with a price.

Slap a dual core 939 opteron (165,180) in it if you want to use it. They overclock really well. Throw in 2GB of DDR 400 (you should be able to scrounge around your network of peers and find someone who has some lying around now that everyone is moving to DDR2) and then an 8800GTS or one of the high-end 7-series cards.

If you already have a core2duo it's sort of pointless tho.

I saw those Opterons, but I had no idea if they were good or not.
