if you dont want to travel then move to a big city in america like NYC.

Going to live in japan with your condition is sadly absurd and unrealistic.

Oh and what's that thing on your eye? A birth mark?

Well, that's the thing, I DO want to travel. And why is it so absurd and unrealistic? Challenging yes, but that's not to say there's no way I could make it or that my life couldn't be better. And that is a birth mark.

Well do you speak Japanese? And being alone with a handicap in a place that likely is not going to be warm and friendly towards you does not seem to be an enjoyable life to live.

No, but I'd be willing to learn t. And I sure don't feel as if where I live in warm and friendly towards me. As I said, I realize that I may be looked at differently and people may not be completely friendly towards me, but that's certainly how I feel where I live, at least living in Japan would be unique and I could actually go places. I may be alienated, but being handicapped I feel alienated anyway.

where would you be able to go in Japan that is worth the loneliness (more than you are experiencing now, language barrier is worse than you realize) than say a big city like NYC?

Well, like I said it wouldn't solve all my problems, nor am I saying the language barrier wouldn't suck but it's just that my handicap has kept me from doing many things I'd like to, and I just want to be able to go all out and see really unique things. I do want to see more than just Japan, but for me I think it would be the most handicap-friendly than other country's. And there are fellow foreigners I could talk to anyway. To me, if I'm was going to live in a big city like NY I'd rather live somewhere where it's very different and unique, rather than just a big version of where I live.

Let me ask you: Say you were me, you were handicapped, lived in a small town, couldn't drive, and the only person who helped you was your dad, but you still wanted to travel and see new and interesting things, and since you're handicapped you always knew you'd feel alienated no matter where you'd go, what would you do?

it'd probably be easier for you to live in a 3rd world country.  at least you could hire someone for a few dollars a day to take care of you.  and give you some head on the side.

Synbios459, welcome to the evilbore.

Japan is indeed a glorious land where no violence exists. I do however, have to ask you a few questions before you leave us for the promised land, to make sure you are eligible, of course:

1. do you like the video game series mother/earthbound?
2. do you like anime, an example being "Bleach"?
3. do yo find asian women attractive regardless of looks. Just the mere fact they are asian?

why japan, seriously, given that it would be WORSE than nyc for one of the handi-capable

if i were handicapped and stuck in a small town, i'd fuckin' move to the city, get a serious internet connection, and rub my handi-cock to all the internet porn my fuckin' cripdick could handle. on my days off, i'd perform comic acts on street corners for rich white liberals and their money.

Yeah, but who do you think would be more likely to look past my handicap and help, an American girl, or a Japanese one?

I've talked to you before about Japan, and I see now you've moved the discussion here because your lies about your "girlfriend" on GAF got everyone against you.  BUT anyway.

I wouldn't go to Japan to visit for a month.  Not only is that going to be quite costly, but I think you'll end up extremely depressed and lonely if you are not travelling with anyone.  Nothing should be stoppong you from going, but I wouldn't recommend going it alone in your case.

I hate to say this, but I think you have zero chance of hooking up with a girl here.  For one thing, you won't even be able to communicate with them, and most of them are going to outright ignore you.  If you're looking for a relationship, there's no way in hell you can get one by travelling someplace for a short time.

And if you're talking about living here, FORGET IT DUDE.  You can't just up and move here.  You need to get a job and the proper visa first.  And as I recall, you haven't gone to or finished college.  It's not going to happen.

synbios, I don't get why you have this vision of Japan as being the perfect place for a handicapped foreigner to live.  You would be completely miserable here, you wouldn't be able to talk to anyone, I doubt you'd be able to get any sort of job due to your handicap, and there is basically zero chance you'd be able to get a girlfriend (as others have stated, Japanese girls tend to be more shallow than American girls).  I hope that if you come, you at least come on some sort of package tour so you have stuff to do other than wander around the streets of Japan by your lonesome.

lyte edge, he said he was going with his dad so he wouldn't be alone all the time, but I wonder if he'd want his dad coming with him when he tries to go to a soapland or to kabukicho or some place like that (which I suspect is one of the real reasons for his visit).

As easy as in the US.  Japan is not the miraculous land where women prostrate themselves before foreign guys, no matter what other j-gaffers have told you.  If you go to a club that has slutty girls, you'll get laid - as you probably would in America.

not meant as  a challenge or anything, but as i`ve not been in the singles scene in Japan for about 6 years, i need to ask :

how often do you get laid Ichirou?

As a single honky American, how much action do you actually get to see?

Yes.  If you're really serious about teaching English in Japan, I recommend taking some courses about teaching English as a second language, as well as focusing on Japanese.  I'm basically here temporarily, unlike lyte edge or dcharlie, so after a couple of years I'm going to be gone, but it sounds like you are seriously considering moving here at least semi-permanently so if you are really really serious, you should start working on those things, like, pronto.

EDIT: I will leave that last horrid run-on sentence untouched as a reminder to edit myself before posting.

QFT.  You might not feel it's fair, Synbios, but that's the way it is.  Hiring someone with a degree inspires a certain confidence that said person knows his/her stuff.
Actually it's more who you know then anything. My brother doesn't have a college degree but he is friends with someone and makes a little over $45,000 a year.

Educational institutions have minimum requirements...if you are serious about coming over here, you should hit the books.  Otherwise, you're wasting our time asking about Japan because you're never going to be able to work here without a college degree.

y'know, even at the height of my videogame- and anime-fueled homojapuality back in '94, i still never considered moving to japan nor did i ever want a japanese girlfriend.

I wanted a japanese girlfriend, only because they have small hands and it would make my phallus look 10x bigger :(

if you want to be a teacher without well getting somesort of teaching degree that would be rather odd.

It's 2007, if you want to do anything with life you need a college degree.

You're never going to get over here without going to college.  If you don't want to go to school, then stop whining and go find something else to do.
I know that, I was just replying to his "if you want to do anything in your life you need a degree" comment.

except for IT, where plenty of people never went to college, preferring to teach themselves and earn certificates.

college is an expense that many people will regret years after graduation.

i've defaulted on my loans because i don't feel like paying $500 a month.

it's bullshit.

i have a degree from one of the finest schools on the east coast, and what did it get me?

admittedly, though, my focus isn't a 9 to 5.

my focus is writing -- screenwriting (re-writing a script now) and poetry.

but until that takes off, i have to suffer the the 9 to 5 grind for a paycheck that affords me nice clothes and fast women.

i live with them out of choice.

it's not as if i can't afford it, if i truly wanted to move out.

i just don't want to abandon a lifestyle that sees me live like a rockstar.

what can i say?

And?  That's stupid...it's not like the whole country is "anime land," nor would a Japanese girl be like "OH YOU LIKE ANIME WE MARRY NOW!!!"

Anime is cartoons here.  Like the shit you see on Saturday morning TV.

You're not the first person to make that mistake. I think it's typical to assume that if a foreigner comes to Japan to teach English he must be a white American.

I wouldn't mind a Japanese girl as a novelty bang, but I mostly prefer white girls.

Yeah, just like all the white, black, red, purple, and green people.

I prefer girls who look good.  That's pretty much it....don't give a shit about race, although I find I generally like women of color more.
