Gamefaqs, i only use for codes and guides, i do all of my posting at gamewinners. Gamefaqs forums are lame looking too, and the site moves kinda slow. I like software where you can use avatars, and sigs, and skins. Gamefaqs forums are not the worse too, but it looks kinda weird and again the site kinda moves so.

But yea gamefaqs is better then ign. I only visit for reviews, because they have the best. But i dont see why you have to pay to use thier forum, thats weird. Kinda like gamespy which i use all the time for online gaming, its the best gaming server around, but paying for it, the features you get are not worth it.

The whole reason the cigarillo forums grew so much and rose into prominence is because IGN made most of their boards Insider-only years ago, making a whole lot of members look for other board options.

Everytime I see someone dissing gamefaqs at GAF, I shake my head. You know, as if the GAF gaming forum isn't a complete fucking shithole lately. Every thread turns into a console/sales-war. The only 'bad' board on gamefaqs is NGG, and anybody who spent more than 10 minutes on that board could easily tell it's all a big joke that everyone is playing along.

Places that are connected to ign, and that is good, are:

3dgamers = Best for demos, patches, tools, and a cool but kinda active forum.
Gamespy arcade = OMGZ, the best multiplayer sever in the world
Fileplanet/forum = I never download anything from fileplant, but thier forum is ok. They need to swtich to VB or IF fast tho.

Thats pretty it. I also have a profile over at 1up, and filefront and i post on filefront forum and 1up forum.

The best forum for actual gaming discussion is SomethingAwful's gaming subsection. People are actually playing games there. GAF is good for news and the OT.

I searched specific information about certain games that GAF had which led me to discussions happening in 2004 and 2005, and the flow of discussion was surprisingly different and relaxed then

the amount of traffic that the board garnered during the months preceding next-gen and its dawn simply killed it and made it unreadable

Abrader: Yes its cool, the forum are awesome. We can use sigs, and pretty good large avatars and i'm planning to buy a nintendo DS , so everything is nice over at modojo forums. The forum software is VB so its cool either way
