Don't know what to compare it to, because I have never played a game like it. But, you are a magician that has to sort out runes on a circular table. You get 4 at a time in your "hand". You can link up runes by type/color (kind of like Uno). There are hidden bonuses that give you special powerups that can be used to get by tricky parts.
The rub of the game is as you progress, it forces you to only play certain types on runes on the board (only green or only stars). So, you need to think out your moves so you maximize your plays and get any bonuses at the same time.
The first 5-6 boards will seem pretty tame, but after that it gets a little more interesting.
