I love how the way they changed her hair from the movie they ripped EVERYTHING off from makes no sense.

The art for this Street Fighter remake is awful.  Why couldn't they just hire the people who designed the original characters instead of this Udon bunch?

Disagree.  What they've shown looks nice enough.  What's laughable are the people elsewhere saying the art sucks and then posting their own high-res versions of the sprites.   :lol

Looks like someone with some markers and some high school art classes did these sprites, honestly.

They should have hired Akiman or Kinu Nishimura or somebody else with long-time involvement in the SF series instead of these amateurs.

I think it looks mostly good, but WTF is up with her lips and the cleft in her chin? ...And her ear...uhh...

$$$$$$$. The bulk of work is too huge and Capcom wouldn't be able to afford those guys and their "cult of personality" these days anyway.

I don't know why you guys think these people get paid a lot of money.  I know a little bit about artists in the animation industry, through a friend of mine, and these people do not get paid that much.  Especially cult figures like Akiman and Nishimura, who are not particularly sought after (what have they done outside of Street Fighter? Akiman did Turn A Gundam and Overman King Gainer, and I think that's basically it).

The grunts get paid jack shit while the old guys who stamp their name on it suck in the big bucks. That's how the Japanese character industry works, at least in every instance of it I've ever seen. Nowadays, half of these designers don't even draw the characters they "create."

I'm also under the impression that Udon is a big bunch of dudes, and probably work a lot cheaper than a team that Akiman would have to cobble together (he's freelance now).

Yeah, but it's not like any of the Capcom people are actually huge names like Toriyama Akira or Fujishima Kosuke.  I dunno, I think it would look better than the stuff the people at Udon are doing, which just looks extremely amateurish to me.

I really wonder if this is more a Capcom USA joint than a Capcom Japan one. After all, Japanese people can smell faux manga a mile away...

I'm pretty sure that's it...the artists at Udon are mostly Korean, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of backlash towards the redrawn sprites if/when the title comes out in Japan.

I thought it was always just Capcom USA?  This and Puzzle Fighter don't have any Japanese announcements, right?  Did Puzzle Fighter even come out for the GBA in Japan, or was that U.S.-only too?

Most of the Udon guys are Taiwanese from Toronto area IIRC. I don't remember any of them being Korean (I can smell Koreans mile away).

Also, the work being done is class A stuff in my opinion. I think those bitchin' about them are just some wacko Japanophiles that only consider work done by Japanese as quality.

I'd rather just have artwork done by the original character designers, is all. :/

I don't think those guys actually do grunt work like that anymore anyways. There is probably now a solid separation of concept designers and production artists these days for Capcom.
