The gaming side over there has been a complete wasteland for good long time now, and it's starting to creep into the OT:  you have the weekly box office threads, we even had a goddamn billboard album sales chart thread a couple days ago, and the never ending stupidity that is the blu-ray vs. hd-dvd debacle.  Couple that with a moderating team composed mainly of illogical fucktards and the stupid censoring of words like fuck, cunt and "competing" forums like OA and EB and you have a recipe for a major disastrophe.

I think I was the one that modded evilore, maybe even hito. The forum was getting big, I didn't want to spend the time modding anymore after battling with Dave Toole for so long. Eventually the modship grew pretty big, then Jinx i believe it was posted 'the mod cocksuck thread'.

I thought it was stupid pandering 'oh mods yer so great blah blah'. Well anyway this post was FUCK LONG. Like pages. I deleted it. Completely. Jinx flipped and because Hito and Evilore are so vain they thought the post was about them and demodded me. Then I just caused a lot of trouble and pushed the line till they banned me.

The final straw was me making fun of Garden State. Thats right folks, I didn't make fun of his ears or anything obvious. I just made fun of Garden State that much.

I will say that when I was the only MOD of GAF the forum was a lot like this one with more people. Evilore introduced big business, which was kinda a logical step considering the forum costs so much to maintain. Unfortunately all that sponsorship comes with strings, most of which involve censorship and the like. I prefer running a forum that isn't being roped into some 'get rich and live off the internet' scheme like GAF has been for a few years now.

what is all that hardcore and random moderation accomplishing anyway? that can't be the "recipe" for GAF's success... you can't ban 98% of the people who cause trouble for being jerks or for being imbeciles since they did nothing special, and no one would be left-- it's nothing but a power trip, and always just a few vessels being singled out for stuff that everyone does all the time

all that it creates is a climate of repression where people calculate their every word and don't know if their current post will be their last, and a bunch of spiteful banned people who create even MORE chaos and accounts in revenge, which it a vicious cycle that makes it necessary to up the moderation ante even more

in the beginning of EVB I was sure that conversations would end up being as vicious as they do on OA, but surprisingly the level of discussion is generally as lighthearted and friendly as on GAF-- and lo and behold, NO ONE MINDS

OA's back up.  Apparently there's some new members like abrader.

The reason they don't like OA here is that willco refused to activate Hans's account (OA's admin until about 6 months ago) because he thought he was faggoty so Hans banned most of the mods accounts and the accounts of many of the most frequent posters (their main accounts anyways, most of them have joke accounts).

Hans probably won't be an admin or mod anymore because Reanimated became the OA's new owner when the previous owner didn't want to pay the fees anymore (about 6 months ago) and at first people didn't really mind the idea of Hans becoming a mod (he's been a fair mod for years and even though he went from total x-sfag once he got his PS3, he was still fair) but Hans always disagreed with Reanimated because Reanimated didn't exactly love his PS3 so Hans tried to jack the site's URL.

I don't know what he did exactly, but when you went to your bookmark, rather than seeing OA, you saw some shitty forum where Hans and nobody that hated PS3 were mods (OA mods never ban anybody so it doesn't matter if they love or hate something) and the site was slow as fuck since it was running off a free server.  In about a week, the URL situation was solved and Hans' forum died.  Hans wasn't banned because he was a good mod for many years and that was basically his free chance.

The real opa-opa (40 year old chinese man who's a code monkey and has not had a real date yet and is obsessed with fanboy wars) decided to make a forum shortly after to be anti-sfag after seeing Hans' forum and that forum lasted on about 30 posts per day for a month.  He personally PM'd "known non-sfags" on the OA that had actual posting.  I was one of the last that he PM'd but I believe he just didn't want me there.

Also, when this forum was started I suggested that we be able to say n*igger.  You can't, when you say it it says distinguished black fellow.

err, as usual, Am Nintendo has pretty weird and nonsensical explanations...

the reason as to why OA changed hands is that... a long while ago, Mina wished to stop hosting the forums, and so Razoric took the helm... it lasted a little while, and Razoric kept the same admin team

at a certain time Hans decided to stop being an admin because he felt he had alienated people he trusted, and because he was about to move out on the job market, so he gave the reigns to other OA people

but then at a certain point Razoric had to stop hosting the place because... Saint Cornelius contacted his host, seeing as a picture containing his personal phone number was constantly spammed in all threads, and  Razoric didn't seem to take the situation seriously in the beginning... this made Razoric's host look at the content of the forum, and when finding out what OA was, they didn't want to deal with a place full of bigotry and obscene content... maybe it would've happened sooner or later, who knows

then another member called Reanimated took over the hosting... since then even with a few hiccups it's pretty much business as always... Reani rarely ever does moderating actions other than shitbinning a few pointless threads and it's the same free-for-all we've always known

I don't want to shit talk the place or anything. But After a few days of being too busy to come online, I realized that I didn't want to spend my leisure time in such a negative place. It's hard to find a topic you can actually have a conversation in, and the loudest and dumbest people are splashing their same talking points and image macros in every topic. All the while ripping on GAF for its fanboyism and overuse of image macros.

It does have its high points, but there's just too much shit there (mostly the fault of 6 or so people).

Exxy is a cool dude, but god damn 1Up/EGM is one of the most talentless gaming websites/magazine combos out there. As ive said in previous threads they spend more time fuckin around with their crappy show than playing games for reviews. The reviews suffer. Almost every bad score given to a game has had the worst review tacked on.

For example Izuna got low scores cause the guy was mad they still made roguelikes. WELL SOME OF US LIKE THOSE TYPES OF GAMES. You cannot give a game a low score because you dont like the genre. Oh and the.Hack GU reviews are abysmal. "More of the same"...wtf GU is nothing LIKE the first series.

Plus I think milkman is a big fuckin moron.

All at the same time while denying (i forgot how to spell it) my friend who writes guides at IGN and myself whose an accomplished reviewer chances. They perfer to let fanboys do things instead of people who have experience in the field.  Plus it doesn't help that they get all their news + news contributor from GAF. Fuck him. There's only 7 good people at 1Up; Todd Zuniga, Bryan Intihar, Greg Ford, Shane Bettenhausen, John Davison and Jenn Frank, because she's amazingle cute in RL and I'd give it to her. Twice.

Also I <3 IGN because it's awesome and my friend works there. He tried applying for the PS3.IGN.Com editor position but they didn't take him . They said he might get a better job though (hopefully PC.iGN.COM because he loves PC games) when it opens up as he'll be one of their first choices.
