MLB 2007: The Show (last years game was called it too I think?) is a great game. Wish I still had a Sony system to play them :( I'm stuck with MLB 2K7+ The Bigs :(

The BIGS is probably fun, I used to play Slugfest back in the day. I think The BIGS is a bit more EXTREME tho.

What I dont understand is how baseball games get such low scores. The reviews praise MLB 07 The Show but give it an 8.0. The only negatives in the review are usually OMG GRAPHIX MEH and SUMTIMES INFIELD BOTCHES PLAY but goddamn if its not the best baseball game ive played in years.

Because most of them have shrouded memories of RBI Baseball and think every baseball game should be like that.

But that's why 1Up brought in Todd Zuniga, so that they had someone who actually *knows* how to review sports games. Although I usually check out what people think about recent sports games on OperationSports before going to the review sites.

Well, reviewing sports games is hard. Most reviewers just play an exhibition match and then like two matches in Season. It's not like they go through the game with every team and see if the mechanics are broken I.E. Casey Fossum's Fossom Flip (Eephus) is pretty much un-hitable in MLB2k7...is it even in The Show?

Gamespot clearly played the game for their review, but I just think the score didnt reflect the review.

Not bad at all. Graphics look pretty good and are well animated, as All-Pro Football is probably going to use the same technology, then it's a game that will also look well.

Holy shit is everything FAST in this game. Other game designers, take note, because this is the primary reason as to why many people became disenchanted with modern 3D gaming: too much fucking clutter and too many pauses to move and do everything. The Bigs moves even faster than the original 2D Baseball Stars games! Ideal for pick up and play gaming, any casual can pick a controller and play in seconds.

It's just baseball, there's little to explain. No season mode. Some weird rules added to the mix (only five innings, your pitcher sometimes loses a pitch option), but overall it's still enjoyable. Arcade gaming was once my favorite game genre ever, and this is the first non-racing sports game I've become addicted to in years.

The game has decent control options. However, controlling people in the fields and in the diamond sucks. Sometimes the fielders are slooooow to answer or to pitch stuff back, and sometimes it's hard to notice wtf is really going on.

Lastly, this isn't a game that will stand the test of time, for the simple reason that all in all, it's got no personality. Unlike classics like Baseball Stars, Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz and loads of others... it looks and sounds like a generic, soulless bargain bin EA sports games like dozens already exist.

If you like sports games this is still recommended gaming material, if you can rent it or obtain a copy at low cost. It's pretty limited in options even for an arcade game. It's not that wonderful, but it's probably the closest we'll get to a pseudo Baseball Stars sequel.
