I disagree. The CPAC has invited her to their pity party next year, the huge GOP leadership "secret meeting" we learned about a few weeks ago is going to be heavily discussing her future in the conservative movement, she has the potential to join the senate relatively soon, etc. All signs point up. While I do agree there is a faction of the GOP which firmly believes she needs to be silenced and discredited asap there are other "powers that be" which still see her as the ultimate trojan horse.
Four years. In four years she can totally reshape her image, making people forget about SNL and Kouric. Romney and his financial backers can try to slow her as much as they want but at the end of the day the 2012 primaries open with a series of caucuses and southern states. Expect a bitter, bitter campaign as the religious right attempts to re-assert themselves with Palin and/or Thune while economic conservatives rally around Romney, Jindal, or Ginrich (who will probably wind up as someone's VP).
And IMO Huck will be in the middle of all of this. It's been pretty damn obvious that he's been the keenest observer of Obama this year, and I think he's going to attempt to roll out a similar campaign.
