It's still a Musou game at it's core but with a lot of Persona mechanics. You can pause the combat and use MP for elemental attacks to demon hit weaknesses. There are all out attacks. Your demons level up, the velvet room and demon fusion is still a important aspect. You can switch between your 4 party members at any time and they all have a different play styles i.e. Ryuji can charge up his attacks, Yusuke has cool Vergil moves.
I'd recommend it to most that enjoyed P5. It's essentially a sequel to P5 in terms of story (it mostly ignores Royal, unfortunately) and it does a good job at transferring the turn-based P5 combat into an action game.
...but if you're burned out on Musou, stay away.
