Zelensky says he will 'cleanse' the Russians from Ukraine if they don't surrender.

Tells Washington to stop playing Ping Pong with the planes

Says that he has received signals of politicians trying to undermine the 'unity' by seeking a seperate deal with Russia or splitting the country.
He says if he keeps hearing such things their punishment will be one that befits wartime.

A maternity and children's hospital in the city of Mariupol has been hit by a Russian air strike, Ukraine says.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said people were trapped under the wreckage, and called on Western leaders to impose a no-fly zone.

He also posted footage apparently from inside the hospital, which appeared badly damaged.

A regional official told Ukrainian media that at least 17 people were injured, including staff and patients.

They've been going back and forth about these Migs all week and I don't see how it is any different from sending a box of stingers

One's essentially a purely defensive weapon. The other, not so much.

In any case, I don't get why they're asking for a no fly zone and for aircrafts. Multiple reports say that their own fleet is pretty much intact, an the massive destruction that's happening is no caused by planes or helis.

Easy for her to say when she a) has no fucking planes to start with and b) even if she did, the Scottish are generally too pissed to fly them.

Putin bombed a maternity hospital today killing children and pregnant women so that has moved the needle on the No Fly Zone a bit.

Anyway, the no-fly zone has 3 uses.
1. Russia won't be able to shoot cruise missiles and ballistic missiles into Ukraine as they are doing now as those could be intercepted (or pose a serious threat to patrolling NATO aircraft)

2. Russia wouldn't be able to keep bombing Ukrainian cities with planes

3. Ukraine could mount counter attacks which is now difficult as Russian helicopters and planes also protect their columns, bases and artillery

The point that Russia would start a nuclear war over the no-fly zone is bullshit because in the past Turkey has already shot down Russian planes in Syria.

Not to mention a NATO state (The Netherlands) already lost a plane with about 300 passengers when the Russians shot it out of the sky (and then launched a misinformation campaign to blame others).
Based on that alone NATO has had the right to impose a no-fly zone or even invoke Article 5 against Russia since 2014.

The situation with the Migs also makes no sense at all. I mean, Ukraine could also source Migs from elsewhere, maybe some other country wants to sell them their Migs.
It's like some insane demented version of Risk that Ukraine can have Stingers and Starstreak missile systems but not Mig 29's.

Especially since those Polish Migs were once sold from Germany to Poland for a symbolic €1 each.

MH17 was a Malaysia Airlines flight. There was just a fuckload of Dutch on board.
That's why we very much consider it a Dutch flight.
The criminal proceedings against the suspects actually started March 7th.
But the investigation and all the evidence has pretty much proven it was the Russian military.

Back in the day our air mobile brigade was already mobilized to go and secure the crash site but the decision to deploy was eventually cancelled in favor of diplomacy.

Nintex wants NATO to risk a war with Russia in defense of a non-NATO country justified by the shooting down of a different non-NATO country's plane eight years ago on the premise of "well, they didn't nuke Turkey"
It can be a limited no-fly zone in the west of the country to create a safezone for refugees and those fleeing the conflict.
As Ukraine pushes the Russians back we expand it to Kyiv.

And like I said before we can also put a much bigger pressure on Belarus than Russia.
Lukashenka is only out to save his own ass. Just cut Belarus off completely because of the new nuclear threat after that bullshit vote.

What Putin and the Russian leadership don't seem to understand is that you can't spend 20 years fostering internet trolls and hackers to disrupt western online services and social media and then expect people to believe your bullshit about a war that you started.

Putin, or at least the cronies around him, really seem to have fallen down their own conspiracy rabbit hole.

These are the Russian equivalent of Trumpists...except that Putin has been in power for decades rather than for just 4 years.

Make no mistake, if Trump were in power for the same period, the US would be subject to the same level of delusion. Hell, it only took 8 years of George W (and a couple of planes) for Americans to justify and celebrate the wholesale slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and Afghan people.

Lavrov dismisses 'pathetic outcry' over hospital bombing

Returning to the Russian foreign minister's press conference, Sergei Lavrov is asked how Russia can justify the bombing of a maternity ward and children's hospital.

Lavrov says it is "not the first time we see pathetic outcries concerning the so-called atrocities perpetrated by the Russian military".

He says the Russian delegation told the UN security council three days ago that the hospital had been "taken over" by Ukrainian radicals and "all the mothers and nurses were chased out of there".

He says public opinion is being manipulated worldwide.

Lavrov describes reports on western media channels as "very emotional" and says the other side of the situation is not being considered.

Sounds legit.

The Russians don't even pick up their dead.

Lavrov today said that Russia didn't attack Ukraine, so I say we start bombing the terrorists who are attacking Ukraine as they are clearly not Russian.

From 1999, about special operations...

Quote
Clinton Deploys Very Special Forces To Iraq

reparing for another possible showdown with Iraq, President Clinton deployed more than 15,000 very special U.S. forces to the Persian Gulf region Tuesday.

Clinton said the objective of the mission, dubbed Operation Great Job!, is twofold: to keep pressure on Saddam Hussein to permit the return of U.N. weapons inspectors, and to provide America's very special forces with a positive, rewarding, esteem-building experience.

"With Operation Great Job!, we send the message loud and clear to Saddam Hussein that his open defiance of the United Nations and international law will not be tolerated," Clinton said. "We also send the equally important message to our own troops that what's important is not whether you defeat the enemy, but that you try your best and have fun."

Added Clinton: "Hooray, U.S. troops!"

At a Pentagon press conference, Secretary of Defense William Cohen expressed confidence that the mission will be successful. "I have full faith that our troops will do a terrific job in Iraq," Cohen said, "but even if they make a few mistakes, we'll still be very, very proud of them."

The Russians are preparing a direct assault on Kyiv.
Last night they used strategic bombers to fire cruise missiles at bases and airports. Mariupol is still under siege.
The death toll is rising fast and is estimated at 10 000 civilian deaths in Mariupol, which could double soon.

https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/1502547855092944899

The Russians are shelling hospitals, churches, mosques, residential areas and schools. Some villages have been completely destroyed. They've also started to arrest mayors and other officials.

Ukraine is putting up a great defense but time is on Russia's side and diplomacy is going nowhere. There is also real fear that Russia might use chemical weapons are cause a radiation leak.

While all eyes are on the city small villages are wiped from the map
