My love of Steve Blum went up a billion times after this stunt. It was cruel of CN/AS, but I still appreciate it. I would be worse off if this hadn't happened tonight.

It was an obvious test to see if there was still interest in Toonami. Why use up their programming schedule otherwise?

Did anyone watch The Killing?

I watched it. It was okay. It seems like they're shifting towards the murder being some kind of crazy conspiracy and Linden and Holder are going into "WHO DO YOU TRUST?" mode. Although whether that's the focus of the entire season, or if they're going to be like "DERP, we were wrong, here's our new theory for this week" remains to be seen.

Watched The Killing episodes and thought they were rather good. It (the conspiracy) makes sense given the scope of the show and the way the investigation has had troubles.

Have you watched the entire first season?
A better question would be, "Why would you watch the first season?"

The Killing wants to be Twin Peaks, but god does it not even know how.

Lost season 3 ending spoiler stuff

spoiler (click to show/hide)
entire time I'm like "when did Jack glue pubes to his face? he seemed pretty straight laced in his previous flashbacks and the island." and then Kate comes out and I'm like FUCKING WHAT.  and and forget it.  the fuck is a flash forward? you spend the entire series up until this point establishing the show as a series of current scenes and flashbacks.  all these tricks with Jack calling out his dad in his hospital.  I got got.  and then Jack says "we have to go back" and I finally get where that's from.  it was awesome.

I'm guessing Season 4 chronicles them leaving the island.  and no more Charlie! shame on Desmond for saving him so many times.  now dump Sayid.

Yeah at the time I loved that surprise. Season 3 was actually my personal favorite of the seasons. Originally I hated the first half but I went back and rewatched it and actually enjoyed it a lot.

For those that don't follow such things (and why would you) Dan Harmon, the creator of community and Chevy Chase hate each other.

For what its worth while I like community its been pretty weak this season. The show has gotten over-indulgent.

Weird, Chase was pretty devastated when the show's production was halted a few months ago. It really seemed like he loved it.

This season has been pretty weak. The first season is nearly perfect imo, and while the second seasons starts a bit slow it quickly gets awesome. This season certainly had some great episodes, like the chaos/timeline one, but overall it's been extremely inconsistent. Two weeks ago was probably the low point of the series, with that idiotic bar mitzvah scene, the Hulk stuff, etc. It's as if the writers are trying their hardest to appeal to people who don't watch the show, and it's just failing.

I did like last week's episode though

The Season 3 finale of Lost is fucking jaw dropping good.  That was without a doubt the peak.  So much brilliant execution and payoff and even the cliff hangers were amazing.  It really seemed like the show knew what it was doing and it did so easily.

Season 4 is still very good and in some parts tops everything previously but the mythology begins to fall apart.

Chevy Chase is notorious for being a dick but I actually agree with his complaints about the show. And the problem to me isn't that they are trying to appeal to people who don't watch the show. Anybody coming in new wouldn't have liked or necessarily even understand these situations or characters. One of the problems is the amount of grounded episodes versus wacky episodes has gotten out of hand tending towards the wacky one. And the bigger problem seems to be, they don't really seem to know where to go with these characters. They exhausted too much, too early. This is a show that is done no favors with 22 episode seasons.

The difference is that while Twin Peaks is strange almost all the time, it had an actual investigation happening with a lot of actual, solid evidence. The Killing doesn't even have basic investigation logic down.

I've discussed with this quite a few people and besides some superficial resemblance, it doesn't seem like The Killing wants to be Twin Peaks at all.

It was kinda lulzy though when they revealed that Rosie was sneaking out of the house to go to a casino and be a hooker.

Agreed Stony, this Community season hasn't done much of anything in developing characters, and instead is treading into "put them into wacky situations!" territory nearly every week.

I still think it goes back to the characters. They have no idea what to do with Jeff. Haven't in awhile. I don't even really understand him anymore.

I feel this way about most of the characters. Look at Chang who use to be this really interesting funny side character when he was a teacher. Now he doesn't even make sense anymore. He belongs in a cartoon at this point.

And Chevy is right. The show has nothing to even do with community college at this point. I can't remember the last time I actually saw them in class. They might as well not even be in school.

Syndication requires 4 seasons. At least for American prime time shows with 20+ episodes per season.

And some community colleges offer 4 year programs. Jeff for instance is getting his law degree there. Most likely, Shirley is getting some sort of business degree and Pierce is just taking classes for fun. Logically, students as old as Brittany, Troy, Abed, and Annie would be in a transfer program so they only have 2-3 years.

They probably will stick around taking electives or whatever to keep the show running. It's not like this is Breaking Bad and a main character has to die soon.

Depends on how you approach it. You can get an Associates in two years, but I've seen many people stay longer for more credits to transfer to a university.

Can't stand Happy Endings. It's a bit of Gilmore Girls speak with Chandler jokes and Friendsy vibe. It resembles too many things I have no interest in.

And I watch Grimm. It's got one awesome character. That's the main reason why I watch it. That and the weekly mystery of who's-that-grimm-pokemon?

I started watching Happy Endings.  It's funnier than Zephyr makes it out to be, but the characters are really inconsistent (Jane is easily the best character, and the show wouldn't lose anything if Dave and Alex were replaced with say, a sack of rocks), and it's definitely stuck being a sitcom.  Conditional thumbs up.

They try to fix Alex and Dave's characters in season 2 (emphasis on the try).

Show hits its highs with Jane and Brad.

yeah, they bring in running gags for the characters and make more of the jokes tied to the episode's subject.

There're still too many drive-by jokes that don't fit the context.  It's what I like least about it, although some of them can be funny.

Enjoying Raising Hope.  It's from the creator of My Name is Earl, so it's nice to see a sitcom about the working poor going through life instead of many overly glamorous middle classers.  What's the opposite of aspirational tv?

I watched the beginning of season 2 because it was on while I was cooking but then I ended up missing a few episodes and decided to wait to catch up.  The commercials really do the show no justic.  It looked absolutely terrible in the ads but it's really very charming when you actually watch it.
