I've been sick the last few days and have been poop-socking Chuck. Never bothered with it before but it's a pretty fun, breezy show.

Yvonne Stahowski is distractingly beautiful
That show should have ended after season 2, everything after is hilariously bad.

Poor Adam Baldwin :(

"poop-socking"?

edit: Oh, it's exactly what it sounds like it would be.  Go figure.

Agreed. S1 and S2 of Breaking Bad had me thinking "why the hell do people put this on par with Mad Men what the fuck" but S3, and, really, S4, really set it up there. It's not as consistently amazing as Mad Men is, though, not even close.

S1 was great, S2 was as well outside of the finale. S3 is God Tier alongside some of the other greatest seasons of television. S4 started slow but got very good

coincidentally, i'm also working my way through breaking bad

s1 and 2 are a bit more rooted in reality, and focus on subtler character studies, while from the very end of season 2 onward it begins to rely more and more on shock moments and "tv coincidences"

guess it depends on which style you're more partial to, i tend to lean towards the quieter stuff

I don't want to get into "realism" discussions on Breaking Bad though. To be fair, they would have been caught long ago considering how ridiculously sloppy they ran their business. If it was a sidestory in The Wire they would have been caught in like three episodes.

It's especially baffling in later seasons where Walt is still oblivious to how sloppy things are, despite being married to an accountant

oh, yeah, it's a completely unrealistic show in a lot of respects, i just think (probably because of the budget) it relied more on quieter moments during s1 and 2

Agreed. Prefer s1 over the other seasons because it's grounded in reality, not this small world coincidental bullshit.

Yeah, a guy Walt met in a bar happens to be the dad of the girl he kills that very same night. Right. And that very same guy ends up crashing a plane and killing himself. Same issue with Gus' henchmen that Walt runs over. Right. The kid who killed Skinny Pete is the brother of the girl Jesse is seeing. Oh no, Jesse better kill those guys.

How fucking small is ABQ? It seems like everyone is running into people that's connected to someone they know. Shit writing.

Works for a drama, but takes the drama down a peg because it's pandering to network tv sensibilities where they make up plotlines for shock value and trying to tie every single fucking character - even small ones - together in to the story.

Now that I think about it, you're right in that respect. Things really get ridiculous later. They make up for it with dark humor, as if they're aware of some of the leaps in believability.

the only thing I liked was the wandering zombie metaphor for Shane

I want to punch Lori, like usual; Andrea talks sense, nobody listens, nor cares; Shane talks sense, Rick doesn't care

In the previous episode Lori loses her mind after Rick is gone 5 minutes, then drives off ALONE to find him. Later she tells him Shane probably will try to kill him.

Next ep...Rick and Shane go out alone and Lori seems completely calm as if nothing happened?  lol

But whatevs, that ep was great. I can't fucking stand Andrea though, so tired of her bullshit. PLEASE DIE

She was completely right, though. A person in a fucked up, apocalyptic world, should be given the option of suicide. Also, Lori was spouting '50s housewife misogynistic platitudes and it was all total bullshit. Being on the lookout for walkers is TANTAMOUNT to survival, not fucking doing laundry and not using guns because you're a woman

next ep did that for me.

"When a man walks into a room he brings his whole life with him. He has a million reasons for being anywhere, just ask him. If you listen he’ll tell you how he got there, how he forgot where he was going, and then he woke up. If you listen he’ll tell you about the time he thought he was an angel, or dreamt of being perfect, and then he’ll smile with wisdom, content that he realized the world isn’t perfect. We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had."

Agreed. It was the first time I've liked the "text hovering in mid-air" effect the series imposes so frequently when Sherlock is reading someone.

Ah see I really enjoyed that effect, and they stopped using it as much after season 1 episode 1.  Glad to see it come back in season 2.
