The Gears of War influence is pretty straightforward, with the focus on taking cover -- even though it's implemented vertically here -- and the game's use of the Unreal Engine for its visuals. But a more surprising influence comes from Sony's Shadow of the Colossus, which not only is one of the best-reviewed games in recent memory but also is seemingly one of the least likely to inspire a shooter, since it's all about taking down giant beasts in a slow and methodical fashion. As it turns out, Dark Void will have bosses much like those in Sony's game. "The idea there is that you're going to use your jetpack to latch on to these things and kind of scale them," Kujawa says. "It's almost like pecking at this giant boss." And much like in Shadow of the Colossus, there will be parts of these fights where you'll need to hold down a button to keep the bosses from bucking you off.
How are the controls?
What happened to Capcom? I won't even download this crap.

I'm going with "trying to make themselves look good by sabotaging associated western devs" at this point. GRIN made some decent games, and then GRIN met Crapcom.
The problem with GRIN was GRIN. They cranked out a shitload of mediocre games in a short time and paid the price.Good grief. :bow truth spoken :bow2
As far as Dark Void, its no secret that Japanese devs have a hard time overseeing American projects from B level teams (and vice versa for that matter). This happens to a lot of them. Its not just Capcom.
Downloaded the PS3 demo because I heard it was better, but haven't tried it.
Capcom started out great this generation. They just completely suck nowadays.
RE5 was ok. But it's still the worst main RE game to date.
Yes, RE0 is better..
And Lost Planet 2 also looks like shit.::)
The only good Resident Evil games are 2, Code Veronica, and 4. True story.
Yeah, I forgot REmake.RE5 plays better than any other RE game not named 4 Resident Evil, however. :D
So that's REmake, 2, Code Veronica, and 4. Those are the only games I'd classify as truly great. The rest run from middling to poor.
This game is pretty sweet. Blowing into the cartridge to start the game is a nice touch.
Dark Void Zero?
Closing Comments
With a poorly-received demo already forcing Capcom to halve its sales estimates for Dark Void, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone that the full package is every bit as disappointing as expected. By Capcom's normally impressive standards, this is by some margin its least impressive offering for a generation. To be blunt, Dark Void is a bland mass of half-baked ideas, generic combat and unengaging aerial action, with poor AI and a wearisome story. If disappointment is what you're after, look no further.
I would play Dark Void Zero but I still see no reason to buy a DSi ever.
Will buy eventual PSN release!
I have a DSi and no idea how to purchase games for it, or get them to it. Compared to the PSP's XMB interface with built-in stuff, it's like Nintendo is daring consumers to try and figure out how to buy.
Just finished Episode 1 of DV. The game is really slow to ramp up. The last mission in the episode is the the same as the demo but WAY better, you're knocking out shield generators and then doing vertical combat up into the reactor core, blowing it up, then freefalling out of it as everything explodes. Feels pretty awesome, I have no idea why the demo didn't include any of the cool stuff that's in the actual game.I just played this bit myself and cannot even begin to understand how they could have excluded that from the demo. Vertical cover was always one of the big selling points of this game and that was a perfect scene in which to demonstrate it. The free fall bit was the cherry on top. That segment was so much better than the second generator included in the demo. I seriously believe that such a demo would greatly have improved the general perception of the game going into release day.
I am a sucker for any game with freefalling and shooting stuff from the air, though (see Just Cause)
