--1 "the dog" (regular) with everything + sauerkraut
--1 "Keira Knightley" (supposedly spicy but not at all) with everything

Probably the most disappointing visit to a hyped restaurant I've ever had...people hyped the shit out of it before. They were great, high quality hot dogs, but literally no different than the vienna beef dogs you can get on any corner. Maybe the ingredients were laid out with less sloppiness than your average place... I would not be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test. On the other hand, they had all kinds of exotic sausages and dogs that I need to try next time, which is probably what they're famous for. I went simple today.

also, Midway had a studio across the street. Looked dark, closed, and bleak.

I totally need tot set up my guitar too. Some screw in one of the saddles is missing on the bridge so one string always has bad intonation. And I generally believe that there are some other minor adjustments to be made for my guitar to be perfect.

Yeah it's the purple one. I now have Fender strings on my guitar. The pick is a little too thick (2 mm) but I already think it's kinda better to play with than the Jazz III pick I've been using for so long. The smooth texture of the Big Stubby makes for smooth playing without getting your pick 'stuck' much between the strings.

And I'm not a big fan of D'Addario's. They're too hard to bend imo. Super Slinky's are damn awesome when you first put them on. So smooth and easy to play on. But the bad side is they rust too fast.

I also found he uses Tortex 0.60 picks - which is what I've used for as long as I remember. That makes me feel special. :-[

I think Yngwie & EVH are two of his biggest influences so you get a funny mix between rock and shred metal.

Plus some of his lessons on Youtube have really kick-started my playing again. I think it's the first time in my life I've got any practical ideas from a guitar guru instructional DVD thing.

I've always been into Ibanez Jems and Universes which generally have fancy inlays, so nowadays I'm gravitating towards minimalist inlays for a change of pace. But I like sharktooths, and Ibanez have started doing this type in recent years which I quite like:

There's something really nice about a big uninterrupted slab of fretboard. It's kind of rare on electrics.

All my guitars have a floating trem. I never thought I could live without them but maybe I'll consider a fixed next time around especially as I'm going on a Paul Gilbert bender and he plays fixed.

Trems are great for dive bombs and squeals but other than that they're a pain. I don't like changing strings normally but on a floyd, ugh. :-\

Got it to use as a secondary "monitor" for gaming crap, mainly. I love my 1080p Asus monitor, but any game systems apart from the 360 and PS3 look horrid on it. It also doesn't seem to "like" playing PS1/PS2 games on the PS3; they just don't look as good upscaled on it or look unplayably-ugly, so enter the smaller, secondary TV. Kinda a pain in the ass to keep hooking up the PS3 to two different monitors, but I haven't gotten everything set up yet. Will probably just use it for the PSP, Wii, and PS2 for the time being, and the 360 or PS3 when the main monitor is in use for something else.

I wanted to use this as a third monitor with my laptop, but there seems to be no easy (or cheap) way to use two dual monitors with a MacBook. Since I'm gonna be getting a desktop pretty soon anyway, it doesn't really matter.

I didn't have much of a problem playing PS2 games upscaled on the PS3 on the TVs and monitors I used in Japan. It's the Asus monitor I got back in the States that did this for the first time, and on top of that, the monitor's component input is basically worthless. Stuff just looks awful.

I have an older Samsung SDTV from 2003 that does 480p and has widescreen options, but it looks a hell of a lot worse than I remember it being. Stuff isn't as sharp and the Wii also doesn't fit the screen properly. So I wanted to get something relatively cheap to use an alternative. The Toshiba seems to be working nicely.

...I get a really awful messy distorted sound. Same goes for similar p.chords(?) and the like. And it just feels like I have a crappy overall tone. Will changing pickups (I got crappy Ibanez stock pickups) really improve my sound drastically or is the because I play on a solid state amp? Then there's also the issue of my guitar being poorly set up :'(

I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've used stock Ibanez pickups before and they're OK, and to this day I still play on a solid state since I can't be bothered with tube changes and I'm happy. It's hard to diagnose "awful messy distorted sound" over the internet. :(

If you play the same notes on the clean setting on your amp and it sounds buzzy or something then it could be your setup. If it just sounds bad on distortion, maybe you just don't like the distortion on your amp.

That's a pretty nice diagram by the way. :-*

The 2 notes don't mash up together that great. Instead of a good power chord (is that even a power chord? what do you call that?) you get a....... mess of a sound! Like static noise or something.

Yes it's just on the distortion channel and yes, my distortion sucks. The R-Fier channel on the Cube 30 blows balls. I would have liked the Metal setting better actually if it didn't had a stupid muffled unclean sound, so I got no other choice than the R-Fier channel. I'm thinking of buying a cheap-ass tube amp with a distortion pedal because I think I had it with SS-amps. Maybe I just need to change pickups... or change my guitar... or better, both. New guitar plus better pickups on it. Hehe you can tell I'm really tired of my current setup because I have such awful tone.

Well there are many things which factor in the tone you get: how you set the tone/volume knob(s) on the guitar, pickups, amp (quality and how you have the tone knobs adjusted), wood of the guitar, setup (if there's lots of fret buzzing). Also, it's probably sounding dissonant because a regular F# power chord would look like:

E ------
B ------
G ------
D ------
A -4----
E -2----

That would be F# on the bottom (fat) E string and C# on the A string. Sometimes it's nice to have that dissonant sounding chord though, dissonance is metal! :rock Hope that helps.

Not bad, the first 8 volumes for only $38 on Amazon. Each Volume is $10 each on there, so you're saving like $40 if you get that. I might pick it up because I've been wanting to buy the issues for a long time now.

Damn. That's a shame. Keep fiddling with it though, there has to be a way to get it working with the recorder. I'd even suggest hauling the gear down to a guitar store if that's feasible and see if they can get it going for you.

That happened to me with another series I had been reading that had a very bare-bones cleanly designed cover. I ordered the third book and it was from a different print run, with some pretty embarrassing cover art to boot.
