Post some scans, maxy.
Best DQ game in history gets a remake on Nintendo's handheld. There is no stronger blow Vita could take in the face, no stronger.
Yeah I always wondered about Nintendo publishing handheld SE games. So SE just believes there's not enough ROI and Nintendo does, or SE doesn't have the logistical capabilities in the West, or...?
I'm pretty sure they'll do DQ8 after this if not immediately. It has a lot less things to do for a remake than 7. They just need to fix the alchemy pot, tighten up the battle speed, enable a first person battle mode, ideally.
I'd also love 1-3 3d remakes more than anything. They deserve remakes and I'd love to have access to the entire series on one system.
But I was not annoyed. In fact that showed me how vast and rich the game is. To get "stuck" in a RPG? It is unheard of. You can get stuck in adventure games but not in jRPG (except too hard bosses).
More DQ is cool and all, but is this really a big deal from a console wars perspective? I don't get it.
Then again I rarely pay attention to console wars stuff.
Didn't DQ9 do really well in Japan? Was SE surprised by its success after farming out its production?
It is to Borys only cuz he isnt going to be able to play it anyway :lol

Level-5 developing DQVIII, and IX isn't surprising. The only one developed internally at Enix/Square Enix has been DQX.
Shards? Really Borys?
Really?
Miss one shard, double back and explore (two versions of the same!) dungeon again to find it. Not play for a few months and still missing a shard? Good fucking luck, you'd might as well start the game over.
Shards are shit. What the fuck is wrong with you?
No, Borys.
Masochists do. We want no part in it.

Don't you like Shenmooey?
which dragon quest was the one where you experienced yourself through different times and shit
Looks like I touched a nerve. :teehee

more likely than dq7 3d remake.
oh wait.

If you told me a week ago that DQ1-3 were being remade in 3d for the 3ds, I'd believe you. If you told me DQ7 was being remade in full 3d on the 3ds, I wouldn't have believed you. 1-3 would require less resources than a 7 remake.
Don't know if you got the memo but I never play remakes/ remasters etc. as long as I finished the original game even on NES even 20 years ago.
Replaying the same game = waste of time. You know all the story, you know the ending, you know bosses etc. For me it makes no sense at all. I'd rather play something I never played in that time.
looks like DQ9 :-X
Looks fantastic, considering the size of the game being remade here. A DQ freak friend of mine often wondered if they'd be able to justify a remake of DQ7, given just how large it is and the potential audience for any given DQ remake.DQ7 might luck out due to release timing. After Tomb Raider in March, Square Enix's NA branch has nothing on their release schedule aside from their mobile games and the continuous alpha testing of FFXIV. So some of these japanese titles might luck out and be released as an attempt to fill out their release schedule and keep their localizers busy, at least until the holiday titles like Thief 4.
I really wonder if they're going to do an English version, though. It's by leaps and bounds the largest script of the series, and pretty much nothing from the old translation is worth using, if they even have the translation around anymore given how much things changed after its original English release (Heartbeats closing down, Enix America getting dissolved). Very big job and even Nintendo's got to be shy after how poorly DQ6 and Monsters Joker 2 sold.

Looks great but fuck shards. Thankfully this version has a cheat mode in regards to them. I was so pissed when I saw shard pieces I didn't want to buy the game anymore until it showed the part where the bug helps find shard pieces.
Seriously, if this were like DQ7 vanilla, I wouldn't buy it. Because fuck shards, fuck grinding, and fuck 30 hours until you get classes.
Looks a lot better than I expected.
Looks so so good. Would be a reason to get a 3DS for me, if it comes over to Yurop or even USA.

One of these is not like the other.
what on earth were you expecting?
Why even post then? I mean, I'm honestly interested what you expected a 3DS remake of one of the largest JRPGs of all-time to look like, given outside one region, sales expectations are 50k or less?
It's the second-best looking game in the series. If you were hoping for better than that, then your hopes were indeed foolish.
Was hoping for beautiful 2D sprites not the 3D nightmare I see
The original DQ7 was 2D sprites on 3D or am I remembering wrong?

Yes, which was not the same graphical style as Phantasy Star Generations, which you were apparently hoping for.

I'm getting really antsy on both DQ7 3DS and Bravely Default. A few years ago SE were pretty good in terms of localizations but it seems like ever since they bought out Eidos and got a case of westabooism they don't give the US any of the goods from the Japanese side. It's so sad to see how far SE has fallen this gen.
Give me one example of a 2d on 3d rpg that doesn't look like shit.

Yeah, because Heroes of Ruin, Sleeping Dogs, Mindjack and Front Mission Evolved were such big hits :P
I don't think anything without a d-pad could be considered "definitive", touchscreen controls SUCK for games. So I'll be fine with my 3DS games instead of waiting 2 years in hopes of a shitty iphone port which doesn't even control properly and still costs the same as the 3DS version :P
