Except you fail because I dont think I know more than other people and I do not have any racial prejudices.

In fact my greatest concern is that I don't read enough about philosphy.

Not all muslims. Just the religion itself is a problem, and PC-pandering has not kept it in check.

that's your insecurity talking, bucko. i read the thread, found it hilarious that there was a psychological phenomenon that accurately compassed the sort of ironclad shitheel stupidity that comes from the mouths of conservative thinkers, and remarked on it. welcome to the internet: where threads about you  -- yes, even you! -- get repurposed!

also, i need to imply nothing. i can call you stupid directly without all the extra typing necessary to circumscribe it.

You see, I could care less waht the hell anyone does in their own country. But once they start crying the victom in America over those fucking cartoons. Thats when I changed my mind.

So you "changed your mind" because you saw lots of negative things they did in the media, without even trying to look for positive things?  Sounds like you were just looking for a reason to publicly hate.

We've roughly been over this before in the last thread this was brought up.  You were given a name or names, and it wouldn't take more than a googling or wiking to find larger scale contributions of the religion on society.  You have the most powerful information gathering tool that has ever existed in front of you.  It's not difficult to find what you are lookin' for.  Or not looking for, as it goes.

Oh, Im sorry, The middle east is a giant beacon of light guiding the world into a new era of prosperity?

Most of it is run by monarchs who keep their citizens poor by controlling the nations resources.  Their are a few decent countries but the whole place is kept done by centuries of conflict.

I never said it was "a giant beacon of light guiding the world into a new era of prosperity."  You're absolutely delusional.  The people over there, regardless of religion, are not less than you.  The middle east is just as important a place as the US, from a humanistic point of view.  But you, hey, Christians can be terrorists over there and it's totally kosher!

Okay, so we've moved from "Muslims are violent" to "Well, they're not violent, but they're letting a violent minority control their image!"

I don't even know what that means.  Moderate/tolerant Muslims have hired jihadists to do their PR work?  Huh?

TVC: My favorite part of the Dunning-Kruger effect is that they measured it regarding humor as well.  I'm not sure how they did that, but it sure explains the Drawn Together love in this case, and Day by Day more generally.

Basically, FoC's argument goes like this:

1) Since a few Muslims have committed acts of very highly-publicized violence, all other Muslims are obligated to tell me that they condemn that sort of behavior.  If they don't, it is reasonable that I make blanket judgments about their religion.

2)  If a white person, American, or member of any group I'm part of does something bad, I don't have that same obligation.  If someone judges me based on that, they're ignorant and wrong.

3) I can't be arsed to actually look up anything myself.

Sounds fair enough.

The question is, what people need to constantly apologize for others in their religious or ethnic groups?  I mean, none of my Irish friends has denounced the IRA, but if I started giving them shit for being terrorist sympathizers, they might throw Baruch Goldstein back in my face.
