The burning wood area is just a straight copy, only less pretty. Northrend = Shiverspeaks. Maybe they'll be smart enough to copy the gameplay, too.

TVC are you still playing LOTRO a lot, and do you know if the other GAFfers who were hella excited about the game (IE Amir0x) are still playing?

Most of these additions don't seem to effect me. I like the idea of a guild bank tho woohoo. I'm still playing solely as Goinio, although once I gain one more level (to 55) I'll start a new character: female Draeni paladin

Yeah, the entire game is basically Guild Wars now. I can't believe how much they ripped off of the quest, dungeon, and raid design in Guild Wars. I mean come on.

You only need to worry about their eventual overnerfing of Warriors since the game is currently imbalanced due to their overboosting of Warriors. which is mostly because of gear and one skill, but they probably won't change those things and do it in some bizzaro way.

We'll be trying Lurker next week I think. Right now we do Kara, Void Reaver, Gruul and Mag, trying to add SSC. Theres tons of WoW players on EB, that is why my GW love gets so much hate. PD made a big wow thread, it just hasn't been updated.

Well hell. Lurker is pretty easy, if you can do Void you should be able to have him down in a few attempts. Just have to get people to avoid the spouts and get used to the transitions from boss to adds.

I think your GW love gets so much hate because it is a terrible game, etoilet. I'm not a big WoW fan, but I am a big fan of Diablo-esque games. Guild Wars is totally boring. Mythos and Hellgate steal its one interesting concept and build good, interesting games around it. Hopefully Guild Wars 2 is a less boring outing.

My wife, a very casual WoW player, really likes that the expansion has a strong emphasis towards leveling and having a cool new alt to work towards. She has had just enough time since Burning Crusade to level one character to 70, do some lightweight dungeon stuff, and play around with an alt or two.

She, like I, burnt out on the hardcore endgame some time ago (during Naxx) and isn't too eager to return to raid scheduling and high-end guild bullshittery.

Yeah, it really is awesome for that. I'm pretty much done with the game for good-two level 60s back before BC were enough for me-but leveling was really fun.

I don't trust myself with these kinds of games anymore, and instead choose to go the route of the crazy bearded man PC gamer instead. Slightly more sunlight, and a good bit more variety in my gaming diet.

Neither do I. I swear after WoW I'll never play another MMO. Please god let this be true.

A week ago our guild leader/main tank finally decided he'd had enough after close to 2 years of playing without a break and on the same day the raid leader's gaming computer broke. I thought we were done (attendance had been an issue for a week or two) but other people have stepped up and we cleared everything this week and started serious Vashj attempts last night. I think we'll hit phase 3 tonight.

My warrior is stuck at 38 while I play a mage. I have a level 61 warlock and 60 rogue. I lub fire spec mage. F' the fireball nuke, I like me some scorch w/impact/ignore/improved scorch followed by dem fire blasts and a high crit chance and mana buyback from the other talents.

GW is closer to PSO than it is diablo, but overall it's has a style of it's own. It's built around player skill, and skill selection. The looting/gear aspect is completely removed and makes it quite different than most diablo clones.

Any online game is centered around the community, and I currently know a lot more people on WoW than I do GW. If my guild didn't end up pretty much adopting all the people I liked, I would have stayed inactive.

That has nothing to do with them aping the visual look of it from Eye of the North. You can have an icey world in two games and have them look quite different in spite of the ice. The one possibility is that this was planned while the ANet people were still with Blizz and they got to it first, so Blizz maybe was like "fuck that we'll do it too". They could have given it their own style though, instead of looking so close.

And they SHOULD be copying GW instead of modeling after EQ.

I was talking about my WoW guild. My GW guild dispersed long ago, and GW guilds don't last that long as people remake them for the purpose of ranking and test builds.

Hrm. Chronologically, WoW came out before GW. Both had frozen icey mountain areas, but they looked different. Dum Morogh and Shiverspeak Mountains are rather different, as Winterspring is different from Shiverspeak and the expanded ice area, but AFTER GW, Northrend is not like the usual WoW styled ice areas and instead apes the GW style and you want to go how far to say it is a coincidence? =D

You see it doesn't really matter that they were working on it before EotN was revealed, as EotN is an expansion of existing areas. It's just how the two trailers have nearly the same exact scenes that makes it hard to ignore.

I played both too, im just smart enough to not require 200 hours to figure out how I feel about them. I think the dumbest thing about Guild Wars is how you get stat losses when you die. How can you possibly ever overcome something you couldnt beat the first time with a steadily increasing stat reduction.
