Meyers Briggs Personality Tests
« on: August 08, 2007, 02:19:06 PM »
I am not much of a psych person, but has anybody ever taken the test? I've taken them online quite frequently and almost always end up as an INTJ, the "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population. What's even funnier is that apparently I am attracted to INFJs, the rarest of all the personality types (probably why I have trouble finding women I really click with).

http://similarminds.com/pref_jung.html - Link to the test

Just curious as to what some other EBers were, or if any of you guys were familiar with the test...

I'm an INTJ, and I tend to date ENTPs or ENFJs. Despite being a small percentage of the population, there's a lot of INTJs being anti-social on message boards, baby!

ENFP.  Lolz THE CHAMPION.

ENFPs are initiators of change who are keenly perceptive of possibilities, and who energize and stimulate through their contagious enthusiasm. They prefer the start-up phase of a project or relationship, and are tireless in the pursuit of new-found interests. ENFPs are able to anticipate the needs of others and to offer them needed help and appreciation. They bring zest, joy, liveliness, and fun to all aspects of their lives. They are at their best in situations that are fluid and changing, and that allow them to express their creativity and use their charisma. They tend to idealize people, and can be disappointed when reality fails to fullful their expectations. They are easily frustrated if a project requires a great deal of follow up or attention to detail.

edit: the myers briggs descrip is actually much more balanced.

I'm INFP.  Weird to think that you would be what I'm like, if I were female and more extroverted.  Seriously, I don't know if the tests mean much.  The school made us take the test to anticipate possible academic weaknesses but I seriously doubt it did anything for anyone.  It was the only test we enjoy taking though.  lol  The environment and people can do much to change one's inherent personality.

Too many questions, I'm ABCD

 :lol  That's why you got sent to the special school.

The tests are used by HR departments sometimes, and my results were fairly consistent with things I have known about myself, but...you know.  Corporate entities do lots of useless things.

INFJ - "Author". Strong drive and enjoyment to help others. Complex personality. 1.5% of total population.

INFJs value their integrity a great deal. They are generally "doers" as well as great dreamers. They have high expectations of themselves and need to live their lives in accordance with what they feel is right. They do this through total trust of their intuition. They believe in constant growth and don't often take time to revel in their accomplishments. INFJs are proud of their authenticity, respectful of their benevolence, confident of their empathy. They also are constantly in a state of self-renewal.

Preferred type: ENFJ

Rarest personality type; estimated 2% of population.
        * private
        * sensitive
        * quiet leaders
        * great depth of personality - intricately and deeply woven, mysterious, and highly complex, sometimes puzzling even themselves
        * introverted
        * abstract in communicating
        * live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities - part of an unusually rich inner life
        * abstract in communicating
        * artistic (and natural affinity for art), creative, and easily inspired
        * very independent
        * orderly view towards the world but within themself arranged in a chaotic, complex way only they could understand

interesting test... guess i'm "different"   :lol

Yeah, but you consciously or even subconsciously do stuff to compensate for quirks in your personality. So if you do stuff that's not really part of your inherent personality, then are your inherent personality traits really part of your true nature?   ???  Psychiatry/psychology are interesting but they also seem like a bunch of illogical BS sometimes.  I guess that's why it's the least popular specialty.  Hollywood made Psychiatry glamorous but in reality, it's at the bottom of the list for most aspiring doctors.

Fuk that.  I hate that crap.  My friend's brother is a genius who graduated from MIT but since he got converted to Scientology, he's been donating every dime he makes to the "church".  He remained loyal to Scientology even when his whole family threatened to disown him.

Also, a lot of doctors really look down on Psychiatrists and as far as I know, most of them are not scientologists.  Many people just don't choose to be Psychiatrists, simpy because of the prestige, or lack thereof.

INTP, attracted to ENTP

INTP - "Architect". Greatest precision in thought and language. Can readily discern contradictions and inconsistencies. The world exists primarily to be understood. 3.3% of total population

That seems accurate.  Everyone bitches at me about criticizing shows and movies, but I think I'm fairly good at it, and more importantly, it entertains me.  My actualized type is identical to my preferred type, too.  So I guess I am largely who I want to be. . . :(

Apparently I'm attracted to -ENFP - "Journalist". Uncanny sense of the motivations of others. Life is an exciting drama. 8.1% of total population.

ISTJ, attracted to ISTJ

ISTJ - "Trustee". Decisiveness in practical affairs. Guardian of time- honored institutions. Dependable. 11.6% of total population.

ISTJs are quiet and reserved individuals who are interested in security and peaceful living. They have a strongly-felt internal sense of duty, which lends them a serious air and the motivation to follow through on tasks. Organized and methodical in their approach, they can generally succeed at any task which they undertake.

ISTJs are very loyal, faithful, and dependable. They place great importance on honesty and integrity. They are "good citizens" who can be depended on to do the right thing for their families and communities. While they generally take things very seriously, they also usually have an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun - especially at family or work-related gatherings.

Best describes me:
The ISTJ will work for long periods of time and put tremendous amounts of energy into doing any task which they see as important to fulfilling a goal. However, they will resist putting energy into things which don't make sense to them, or for which they can't see a practical application. They prefer to work alone, but work well in teams when the situation demands it. They like to be accountable for their actions, and enjoy being in positions of authority. The ISTJ has little use for theory or abstract thinking, unless the practical application is clear.

It's almost impossible for me to sit down and do something if I don't see any point in doing it. I also hate working with people but will do it to reach my desired end goal.

I aim to please, people.

Okay, the test linked says I'm an INTJ who prefers ENTPs, which is as expected (and stated earlier).

However it also says I'm an adapted/preferred ESTJ, which I haven't seen before.

Also, apparently this is splitting hairs:

Actualized type: INTJ
Introverted (I) 56.67% Extroverted (E) 43.33%
Sensing (S) 50% Intuitive (N) 50%
Thinking (T) 55.56% Feeling (F) 44.44%
Judging (J) 51.61% Perceiving (P) 48.39%

I guess my chi is in balance.

My biggest mismatch was the E in prefer-to-date ENTPs, which was an 80/20 landslide. What can I say, this introvert likes bubbly girls.

EDIT: It's a good thing Keith isn't going after the same dating pool as I am, or we'd have to bust some heads.
